I collect the odd watch, often have scratched mineral or the much harder sapphire glass. You can virtually remove light scratches in hard glass with diamond paste. Look at Kemet 1/4 micron for finishing and something like 4 micron for roughing. £5 for a few grams.

Had mine for a few days now, and bar a few bugs and niggles I quite like what Samsung have added to stock android. Some of the additions, like brightness shortcuts and font changing are nice touches too.

I'm still not 100% sold on the size of it, I would still prefer something 3.7-4" - but I can live with it as it's really thin and light to make up for it. Will probably pick up a case-mate case for it when they become available though, as previous Samsung handsets have been quite poor for wear n tear I believe.

Now the scratch is a tiny bit better but the glass no longer has that lovely smooth texture. Whoops! Oh well, it was nice while it lasted :p

/Again promises himself it's the last time he allows himself to have an expensive phone.

Live and learn!

Dang thats a real shame Streeteh.

I was worried about the size of the display before I bought it. Having owned three 4.3" before (HD2, DHD & HD7) the displays were always too close to the top edge making them all uncomfortable to hold in landspace making sure your palm didn't touch the display. The SGS II has enough space around and in the Video player you can lock the screen by pressing the power button.

It also feels a lot smaller than the other phones including my last phone the Nexus S and is easier to hold / grip thanks to it's textured back. Before the Nexus S I had a 3GS, another curvy phone, and thought the straighter edges on the SGS II would make it harder to hold for long periods (watching videos) but the light weight makes it easy. Compared it to a HD7 yesterday and couldn't belive how heavy the HD7 feels now.

It also feels smaller in the pocket I forget it's there.

December? Pah!

I'll be shotgunning one of those I think if it's up to spec. Tegra 3 is five times faster than Tegra 2? Damn! I hope the SGS II holds its value well though. I'm going to set aside some cash for whatever Google announce in XMAS either way :p

It will take something bonkers to make me switch over though. And no AMOLED = no go. Might well be the case since it is rumoured to be LG made....

Hum, Samsung should make a SoC code named Kryptonite to combat Kal-El.

Anyway SGS III is rumoured to be scheduled for launch by Christmas and will supposedly feature high res SuperAmoled+ edge to edge display, metal chassis and improved processor and GPU package with dual core CPU clocked at 2GHz. It is alleged that this is what has gotten apple's knickers in a twist recently.

getting mine sometime today hopefully. anyone know if the screen/colours can be calibrated? got a feeling the whites are gona be too blue for my liking!

I looked around, i failed to find one that came with a screen protector. Shame on me.

*Manhugs Streeteh*

Take it back with a fault.

That'll do for next years upgrade. :D

Not very blue for me, I also have the display background set to 'movie' which looks more natural. Not sure if this just adjusts the wallpaper or the entire display. Either way it looks better :)

Hm I've found an annoying 'bug'.

I have ttorrent running overnight as it's a bit of a battery killer, so it can download whilst phone is on charge.

I've noticed the programs stops or crashed when the battery is fully charged. Wonder if it's another issue of the I'M FULLY CHARGED notification.
