****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Also how do media players work on Android/Galaxy S2? Is there a "stock" android player, or is this something that is replaced by the manufacturer of the device? Same question re Camera apps. I seem to recall seeing some reviews where different Android phones have different music players and camera applications, just wanted to know how easy it is just to use the stock one (which must be adequate else it would not be on Nexus One/S), rather than downloading and trying different apps for basic functions like Camera and Media.

Finally, screen protectors, effect on brightness, effect on capacitive accuracy (Angry Birds related!!), recommendations, TALK TO ME.

The Sammy comes with a stock player but didnt think much of it.
I went and got Poweramp Pro based on people here talking about it, much handier, as you can set a full screen widget, so you turn to the player controls/ album art work, and REALLY adjust the Eq etc, much easier faster access than what the iPhone offers...a lot more powerful too

Camer stills, stock has been 100% for me.
Same with Media/ Movie playback, hasnt skipped a beat nor has it had any problems with any codecs/ rips ive put on to it.

Cant ansewer about screen protectors as I dont intend to put one on.

Under recommendations from several forums i decided to try a bit of toothpaste to wear the scratch down.

Now the scratch is a tiny bit better but the glass no longer has that lovely smooth texture. Whoops! Oh well, it was nice while it lasted :p

/Again promises himself it's the last time he allows himself to have an expensive phone.

Live and learn!

Just wondering, when I eventually get this phone (as soon as Vodafone stock it) would I be able to play programmes in HD on BBC iPlayer and hook it up to my plasma via HDMI?

T-Mobile can't seem to give me a definite date for SGS2. First I was told "any day now..." by someone late may, then I was told June which corresponds with the information on their website. When speaking to the retentions department, I was first told 13th of May, and today they told me 18th of May, 27th of May, and June.

Bloody clueless!

Yeh getting the same type of thing, its a pain because i like the contract i'm on, but i do feel i should just cut loose and order online

This is my point put a £3 screen protector on and the lovely screen is protected, no glass is scratch proof.

Just say it has a fault and return it under warranty. Im pretty sure most companies will replace it for a new one within the first month or so.

Well delivered today. rooted and all Samsung crud removed. Good so far but not a massive less from original sgs. spec wise it is but real world it isn't. hopefully something will change ad itvstill early .

The massive is in the form of its slimness and screenness and also the coolness :) A 1.2GHz dual core AMOLED phone with 1GB RAM and 16GB storage and an SD slot? Say it ain't so!

I played with this handset today. I went to buy it but the o2 deal was (as you know) still not on with payg.

But oh my word. It is a thing of beauty. That screen is hypnotic.

brummie: IRC TWLaunchwer just uses Android's own folder style so you could just go to manage apps > find twlauncher > clear defaults.

Oh? You do not want to run the hypnotoad app on it then :p

It is better, not by loads, but easily sharper for things like fine detail and smaller texts, etc.

Sorry something went wrong while i was typing on my phone. I must have deleted some text by accident.
Jist was:
Its not miles better but a little bit better. I have both here next to each other. Whites are a bit better on the SGS2 and on neither can i see the pixels.
