****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

o2 have screwed up my order. Told me last night that I would have it tomorrow. I rang DHL/Yodel today with tracking number as advised to check order had been collected & to arrange with someone to be at home to sign for it. DHL have no record of the parcel. Alarm bells begin to ring.

Back to o2, 10 minute call, to be told that SG2 is completely sold out with new delivery not due until 16 May with back orders will being honoured first. So, may be another week, maybe two before I could get one. Website gives absolutely nothing on availability of stock.

o2 customer services & sales obviously don't talk to each other as one dept said it was in stock & the other say def not. I ended up cancelling the order and will try to get it in a local o2 branch. Really frustrating when businesses like this offer really shoddy service.

If it is your own can you please tell me if when in the case the phone has any explosed edges that could get marked in a drop, or is it completely covered in that respect?
.
The top flip part of the case overhangs the edges deliberately, acts as corner bumpers. But leaves the phone face open when flipped back. The front and back of case has hard inserts and is very rigid, nothings going to be able to impact the screen.

Have to say that looks absolutely vile, more like cheap vinal than proper soft leather. Would rather have a wildfire than a galaxy s2 with that on if i was clumsy, makes the phone thicker than the average labour voter too
Lol, you don't like it then. Actually its a lovely smelly soft leather, feels nice. Bit shiny, needs some pocket time. Yeah it is thicker, folds out of the way nicely though, hinge strip is well designed. Hopefully I'll have a carbon fibre version to compare soon.

I'm a bit on the fence about the Zenus case, are those pictures taken with a flash? They don't seem to convey the surface of it very well.

Can you please measure the total thickness of the device with the case on it?

Indoors with flash, white background is outdoors/sunlight.

Around 15mm along the length, 2mm more at the bulge for want of a better description.

Btw, comes with a screen protector. Which fits very well, no bubbles. Its kind of a matt non reflective affair and I'm not all that keen. Although its very slippery doesn't seem to effect the touch response much at all.

Same with the guy next to me at work. The original galaxy doesn't have the cornings glass is that right?

Unless you work in a really dusty area / worksite I really can't see the point of a screen protector - much less a case which practically doubles the depth of the phone.
Yeah the SGS has the Gorilla glass, only difference is the SGS2 has a oleophobic coating like the iphone. Which I'll bet micro-scratches easier than plain GGlass. Grit, quartz dust from the road in your pocket. Hard as hell, can easily scratch GGlass.

I just had a call from Orange, as i previously sent an email to sales asking when Samsung Galaxy S 2 will be available from their official shop.

I was told that "Soon".

So i expressed my disappointment and guy on the phone said he will go and double check. So he did.

Unofficially SGSII will be available in official Orange shops at the beginning of June 2011.

I flashed the new ROM (9100XWKDD_I9100XXKDH_I9100XEUKD1) and now in Recovery I see the error in the attached pic.

Is this normal? If not, how do I fix it? I've tried reflashing the ROM several times through odin with just the ROM loaded in PDA.

Code:
-- Applying Multi-CSC...
Installing Multi-CSC
Can't access to '/system/csc/XEU/system/'.
Successfully applied multi-CSC.

For anyone with the same problem I managed to fix it here

Oh

Ffs

I'll have to see about sending mine back the... What about wifi strength.

i thought my wifi strength was a bit poor too, hero used to get a better signal however it doesnt seem to have effected speed so im not to fussed. three meters from my router and it drops a bar.

That case looks nice but im thinking the flash is making it look really cheap. Where did you order yours from? Mine was posted yesterday from korea so might have it next week sometime. Might get a carbon one also in the future so look forward to your opinions between the two.

Does anyone here know how to delete Facebook from the Samsung Social Hub application? It seems like it's impossible. I made a mistake setting it all up and prefer everything seperate.

I managed to delete my Gmail and hotmail accounts but am left with facebook feed and messaging.

I uninstalled Facebook from the phone but it's still there!! :(

Looks like our worries about Samsung updates was just sorted out. Google starting an initiative to guarantee software updates for at least 18 months, hardware permitting. Samsung are one of the founding partners.

Take that fragmentation whiners :P

Only drawback I can think of battery usage if your not charging, then again leave you phone to charge anywhere in the house, leave it running Kies and you can access it when ever you like.

Does anyone know when this comes out on Orange? I am seriously thinking of upgrading to this handset. They told me sometime in June on the phone, but the guy sounded uncertain and hesitant to provide even that. They MAY be able to offer me the phone to me for £80 on a £20ish contract (300txtxs, 300mns, internet) but this seems sketchy as they don't even know the phone release date!

Still looking into iTunes integration on a Mac, which is essential for me. There is an application called iTuneMyWalkman, http://ilari.scheinin.fidisk.fi/itunemywalkman/, does anyone have any experience using it?

Also how do media players work on Android/Galaxy S2? Is there a "stock" android player, or is this something that is replaced by the manufacturer of the device? Same question re Camera apps. I seem to recall seeing some reviews where different Android phones have different music players and camera applications, just wanted to know how easy it is just to use the stock one (which must be adequate else it would not be on Nexus One/S), rather than downloading and trying different apps for basic functions like Camera and Media.

Finally, screen protectors, effect on brightness, effect on capacitive accuracy (Angry Birds related!!), recommendations, TALK TO ME.
