****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

I updated mines to KE2... using Kies, worked 1st time!

I'm on Orange btw and just thought i would let it go through with KE2, the only problem I have is comandroidphone FC's on boot? (which i knew would happen) I was expecting issues issues, is this all i can expect?

No big deal then :D

Most say I'm enjoying this phone...I swapped from a JB ip4 but even with the JB it was locked down too much

Nice to be able to tweak like my old winmo days :)

P.s got a USB jig on the way to reset that nasty kernel counter. Tee hee

A tip for people using LauncherPro and not finding it too smooth... I found turning off elastic scrolling, turning on high quality scrolling and setting the minimum scrolling speed to 100 made it much smoother.

Do UK operators put customisations on Android phones (Vodafone Live/Orange World links/apps etc). I know they have in older non smartphones, historically.

If not, what is the difference in getting a Galaxy S2 via a 3rd party company on Orange/T-mobile (e2save, mpd etc) or waiting for the operators getting the phone and buying/upgrading direct.

I notice someone further up the thread was unable to upgrade to 2.3.3 because they had Orange. I assume they just bought it via a 3rd party company and put in an Orange SIM, so am wondering why they cannot upgrade easily, but others can.

Most if not all carriers put customisations on yes. With that said O2 only have a custom launch animation and a sim lock to O2 which can be easily removed. It looks like operators like Vodafone will be adding bloated software to it though as they're having issues with approval from Google, this is just speculation however.

I do not know why Orange users are having issues, i imagine it's down to how the network handles data connections or some such.

...Just picked up one from CPW :)

Looking good so far. Impressed with cam/vid performance compared to g2 touch.

Is there some problem with being on Orange and getting updates?

Phone is obviously not branded or locked from CPW but I did go with Orange. Am I going to be disadvantaged in anyway? :o

SO whats the story on the latest firmware update, when I connect its asking me to do it but not touching it.

On a Locked O2 PAYG.

i don't think you will have an issue, from what i gather its the locked orange phones that seem to have issues, you have a generic one with an orange sim, so should be fine.

Hmmm... mines is generic, unlocked and from phones 4 you. Apparently it's more to do with how the Orange network does something :/

It has an orange sim in it and only ever force closes once when I start it up, after that its fine :) Think I have turned the phone off 4 times in the week I have had it, so its a non issue!

I've been trying a couple different launchers lately, and I can see their appeal, they are more powerful, but after a while I keep going back to touchwiz, I think sometimes less is more, and too many options is just overwhelming - I think I actually, like some others have written in the past few pages, prefer touchwiz to the alternatives!

LaunherPro Plus for me, no doubt about it. I found the TW setup Vile.

How long is everyone SGS2 taking to charge via the stock charger - its taking ages from 0% - its on 40% after 1hr 15m

The first one doesn't look robust enough to me. The other two look much better, as though they'd offer far more protection.

I'd buy either of those last two, the final one probably strikes the right balance between protection and looks.

This is precisely where mine is from, on the same provider. He will have an issue, because it's exactly the same issue I have with the latest firmware.

That said, as someone else has pointed out, it only occurs when you switch on. I am sure they'll sort it out in a new firmware release soon.

Mines on charge at the minute. Been on charge since 0%. It's at 46% after an 1 hour 50 mins. It does take a looong time to charge which is a shame. Mind you I've been texting and fiddling with it and I think that slows the charge town.

You may have an issue with your battery. Mine recharges miles faster than that.

Aww man don't say that!
