****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

I've got Wavesecure installed but apparently to enable GPS remotely, the phone needs to be rooted.

Can I just leave GPS enabled all the time instead? I'm guessing that having GPS enabled uses no battery at all unless a location fix is requested?

I asked this earlier in the thread but didn't manage to get a response:

Can you watch BBC iPlayer content in HD and pump it out to your TV via hdmi with this handset?

I don't see why not, HD iPlayer playback flawless right? Unfortunately MHL>HDMI adaptors aren't available atm, no-one can test it yet :D

Does any one know when Vodafone officially release this handset?
thanks :)

Mate i just posted the information on last page! You should be looking at next week they cant survive on pre-orders alone.

Latest statement from the jokers over at V.F What a bunch of jokers they really are.

"We promised we'd come back to you with the latest information and we've got some good news for Samsung Galaxy S 2 pre-order customers. The device passed the testing process on Friday and the handsets are winging their way to our warehouse now.

We'll start to dispatch them to pre-order customers from Wednesday this week, which means they should arrive within 2-4 working days of 18 May, subject to customers passing our credit check and our regular Ts & Cs for online orders"

Well since Samsung released the source code weeks ago, this won't be a problem :p

Well not exactly, because certain things still aren't open sourced. The radio drivers for one, and I believe the GPU drivers and camera are others.

I could be wrong (I quite frequently am ;)) but I think it's a much harder task to port CM7 than on a Desire for instance.

That would be correct. GPS is only being used while the GPS icon is in the top bar :)

Hrm, any way to find out which apps are using wifi/GPS?

I noticed that something is trying to use GPS... Went into the Settings > Apps > Running and killed loads of stuff but it was still trying (and failing as I'm indoors).

Perhaps I need a better task manager app?
