I have colour coded apopintments via multiple calendars:

I assume she's setting up colour codes per appointment directly instead of categorising them via multiple calendars which then sync in the phone directly. Here's how mine looks in Gcal:

It will show up as one colour on the phone if she's only got one calendar (left side) and she manually sets colours per appointment when creating or editing the appointment.

In contrast the stock Android calendar app is rubbish and Sense calendar is only a bit better than stock.

Question.

In work when I go to plug it in, its trying to install a C2C Serial connection, and its tripping the Admin thing here, even tho I can connect USB sticks etc without problem, is this a driver issue, thought I could plug and play at lease and just explore the Memory card!

You can have multiple calendars per Gmail account, that isn't a problem (as in my screenshot). If she's only got one "Calendar" on the left then there's the problem :p

But yes she needs to create more calendars on the left, each with a colour and title for what goes in that calendar. this will then sync with any device that syncs with Google calendar and each colour/notification/setting/data etc within it. It's really very very good once you get the gist of how the system blends together :)

It is a bit confusing at first as the "Calendars" on the left are essentially folders (or labels, if you're Gmail user) but it's pretty logical.

Thank you, your posts have been most helpful. :)

It's such a simple yet effective way to manage your diary dates and events that every time I go to work I sigh because I'd like to implement it into the Exchange I run but the powers that be don't like change even though this would be faster given the size of the business!

In Exchange or in Google Calendar? Although you can to both, yes :p

GCal has undergone numerous improvements over the last few months.

i always use colours in outlook, but it does not take the colour into google and never has done :(

but yeah since 2 weeks back you can stick a colour on any appointment in google, i tend to add stuff first to my google these days as it syncs better and easier to input

I just find it easier to add an item on the phone and assign it to a Calendar (label) and it automagically sets the colour and my desired notification setting as set in Google Calendar.

So quick, so easy!

not ever tried that so might have a go, what Calendar app do you use on the sammy Khaaan?

that's what i do. it's great as then almost every calendar app will use those colours still and if you don't want to see a certain calendar you can just hide it and then you'll only see events for "work", "fun" etc

samsung calendar is really good one of the best i've used however it takes far too many clicks to get a link to the map. it'll show you the address but you've got to select to edit the event before it'll show the map link which is about the only thing letting it down.

Just put a Google maps link in the description so you can click it immediately and load Maps or Navigation, URLs are hyperlinked :D

if i add another calender like 'football' it wont sync with my work one, only my default calender will. so although i like your way will have to leave it as the default one :(

It will sync, you have to let calendar sync and then tick it so it shows up (if you don't have "All calendars" ticked in the Calendar app via Menu > Settings > Calendars).

I just tried it, created Football and let it autosync over. All fine..

Just wanted to say thanks to those that have helped me in this thread, I'm now used to the thing and have it all set up pretty much how I want it... Got some widgets for travel so I can see if my trains are delayed before getting out of bed... :p

I think from the experience I've had, I'd say buy an iPhone if you want something simple that works. However, if you don't mind a bit of confusion and frustration at the start, and are prepared to do a bit of fiddling around then buy one of these. ;) Definitely a "geek" toy, sorry to say it!

Really impressed with it. Thumbs up!
