****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Hello friends!

Today I was on a photo assignment after which I wandered around town at the phone shops. Nipped into CPW to look at their cases only to walk out lolling at the prices (£25 for a piece of plastic from Case-Mate...).

I chatted with the guy who served me as I was checking out how the various cases felt on my phone, he seemed to know less about phones than me to the point where he said I should work there ¬_¬

Anyway, I checked out the Samsung official case and was surprised the GS I version was £14.99 compared to the £9.95 of the GS II one. I tried it out and liked it a lot, compared to other cases I bought online (Desire included) the Samsung one kept the expensive look and feel of the phone and also kept the slimness of the phone too so I bought it.

I know I've ordered this one already so when it arrives I will compare both but I will likely end up using that as my dash mount or if the holder I bought is actually good then will give it away on here because I'm awesome like that :p

Previous pics online stores of the official case don't give the impression of it looking as expensive as it does in person so hopefully my pics will help change that :)

The material is plastic/rubberised but it's not as rubbery as other cases, it won't show finger greasy marks like others and appears to be black inside and out so chips/scrapes won't show the undercoat which is good news as my Desire case had white showing on every edge!

I like the drilled look too, I don't think it's to help heat escape but more a design feature and does help grip too.
It also provides a bit of a lip on the front so if the phone is placed face down then the screen is protected from surface contact.

Well worth the <£10 asking price!

Edit*
I hear they're a bit cheaper on eBay too.

Mine came today very happy with it, I wasn't sure about the exposed parts but doesn't worry me now, very slim case and looks the part very pleased.

that case looks very nice from the back were u gt it from?

You can get it from Phones4U shops which seems to come in at £9.99 or ebay that is where I got mine from for £8.95 but he has put the price up yet again its now £9.95, it was originally £7.95 on there link below.

Need a little help with the wifi. On a 3GS, it was dead easy to connect to new networks. With the SGS II, I'm finding I go into Wi-Fi settings and under Wi-Fi- Networks are old networks I haven't connect to for ages, and none of the new ones I know are available in my current location. Any ideas? Any recommendations on an app that will let you connect to a new network more easily? Thx

Hm, that is tempting. Remember you'll have to pay an extra £20 or so import charge on that though.

Fedex are hassling me to pay for the iPad case I ordered from Sena, but I'm ignoring them to see if they go away first :p

My beef with it is more about people's stupid spending habits rather than theft.

cant be responsible for stupid people that cant control themselves ;)

there will always be people like that ,and i have no sympathy for them

more on topic .. come on orange, get this phone instock

£20 tax for a case? Jeez.

Did they delivery the case though and then hassle for the tax?

Yes, sent me a letter a month later.

Thus why I'm ignoring them to see if they go away, I imagine they won't go to the ends of the earth for £20 but we'll see :p

The fact their phone payment system is beyond shocking doesn't help their case either.

Sod that then :p

I'll probably stable 2 pieces of leather together in that case*.

I've had a think and realised the pouch would just be a bit more hassle for my uses, would need to constantly take the phone out and in etc when charging, in the car, at work and so on. Hard case works out the best of both worlds.

*may be a lie!

Edit*

But it looks so good!
I bet it smells good too.

Hit menu > scan. Also you can long press old networks you won't use again and select "Forget".

Of course it won't go away, plug you will incur further charges (admin fees) when they end up trying to collect. Just pay it and put it down to experience.

Quick Q - Why does my SGS2 see stuff as saved to "SD Card" when it's actually on what looks like the internal "USB Storage"... I've got no MicroSD card installed but have one on order - wondering if it'll confuse the hell out of the phone when I install it!

I put it down to the base code for Android. Most phones don't have large internal storage, so anything not being saved to the ROM area will be named as going to the SD.
