****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

does anyone know if it's possible to get a wired microphone/control with a 3.5 jack which will allow headphones to be plugged? The phone comes with one but you can't plug your own headphones into it.

I'm kind of wishing I had the Tegra 2 version now, Exynos is faster but thanks to nvidia Tegra 2 gets allot of nice exclusives we won't ever see.

Thanks nvidia. :(

My SGS2 is going back tomorrow because of the low volume problem. Not sure if it's just my handset but even using PowerAmp at full volume with preamp selected it's nowhere near as loud as my iPhone. Tried both the supplied earphones and some Turbine Pros I have.

Also the fact you can't turn the volume up and down via the headphones drives me up the wall :(

I don't think its as loud as the I4 but I can't see a problem with it I can barely stand just over half on mine before it does my head in, the volume thing on the headphones doesn't really bother me as how hard is it to put your hand in the pocket and touch the volume button.

I certainly wouldn't be returning this phone just because of this its the best phone on the market at the present with the best screen on the market.

Well I use my phone to make calls, text and listen to music. My current SGS2 fails miserable at music. As I say - could be my handset as it sounds as if I'm the only person who is having this problem. I'd say the SGS2 at full volume is around 50% - 60% as loud as my iPhone 3.

Also - for a multimedia device - I can't understand how the volume control on the earphones was overlooked. With my iPhone I could control volume, listen to music and activate voice commands all with the supplied earbuds.

We all use them to do the above as you have stated, I spend 3 hours a day travelling on a bus listening to music, making calls texting and it doesn't bother me really but I guess its what we want from a phone that matters and if you are not happy then its a easy choice.

Well I think the low volume problem might be a fault with my handset but the lack of volume controls on the earphones seems to me to be a huge oversight.

I don't think there are many Android phones that control from separate headphones if any at all only from the supplied ones in my experience.

You can buy (or you will be able to buy it in future) Samsung's additional SGS2 headset and it looks like it has volume rocker.

Go HERE and scroll down to 'Headset'

Yup, must be your handset, the loudest volume on mine is eardrum popping. Have to have it like 3/4s on mine. I do love the sound quality though, one of the main reasons why I got it

Sony, nVidia and Apple are being very aggressive in the mobile gaming market atm. Fat pay checks to devs all round :D (Hacked versions run really well apparently ) Don't worry about it, these exclusive periods won't last forever.

Chainfire3D looks quite useful, might allow us to get around the stupid Tegra-only crap that nvidia has paid devs for, from reading on xda it seems almost exclusively down to using a tegra-specific texture compression and not supporting the only OpenGL standard one which shouldn't be too hard to get around...

Bit crappy though, I can live with what they do on the pc where a game is likely to run better on nvidia hardware but will at least still run on other hardware, what they're doing here is just scummy though, and so my efforts to avoid nvidia hardware will continue, however tempting the galaxy tab 10.1 may be :p

Loving this phone & starting to use music player a lot. Couple of questions - what music player would you recommend over the default one (equalizer not the best) & would like a 16Gb SD card but no idea what to buy. Any advice? Cheers.
