****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

What network :D I'm on a mission ow to convince myself :D

Downside its chucking it down now so not heading out.

I'm on Three.

The phone has KE1, so going to try to get KE7 on there now. I take it I just use the stock KE7 firmware on XDA? Anyone on Three done this already?

OK- So after much reading this is what I think I have to do to root and debrand the orange phone I have. My aim is to:

a) get rid of branding and back to stock Samsung setup
b) have root access (to have control over background tasks and to remove undesirable apps)
c) to be in a position to install Samsung updates without waiting for orange to OK them

My phone currently looks like: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images...606230558.jpg/

To get stock Samsung OS:
As a starter can install XWKE7 from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278

Is there anything I need to set up after this step to make sure all the APN settings etc are correct for Orange UK?

To gain root access
Do I just follow this thread? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399

Do flashing insecure kernels and then back to secure kernels still play a part in this?

At the moment I can see three stages involving using Odin to get back to stock KE7, rooting and then doing something else to get rid of the yellow exclamation mark.

I know I keep asking this stuff but I am terribly confused- android phones seem to have differing terms for fairly similar things.

Your kidding right?

Am i right in saying that we need another update from google to enable video calls using Gmail so we can connect over wi-fi so we dont get creamed by our mobile companies?

Google video Talk via Gtalk is available in the USA at the moment. it will come to our country soon I guess or you can use the Gtalk with Video installer that Paul@Modaco created if you must have it now.

Thanks Khaaan I may just wait till its all legit and part of the Android system. I bet Vodafone is just itching to charge me for a video call, i'll use it on wi-fi only so stuff them.

is thats an upgrade???

Hi yes its an end of a 35£ a month 18 contract upgrade offer. I tried it online and got a bad deal so I called the number from my phone. I was in shock when he offered it I had to double triple check I was getting the galaxy s2 and not the Ace or something.like that.
I also made him repeat if it was forty or fourteen. I check my account online and its definitely 14.

Cracking deal. This would be my first contract with orange so no real offer apart from the 25% off line rental.

How are you finding the phone even with the orange stuff on it???
