****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Can anyone tell me how long SuperOneClick should take to do its stuff?

I've flashed the stock XWKE7 firmware and flashed Chainfires insecure kernel. The phone rebooted with the yellow triangle as expected. I've enabled USB debugging and have run SuperOneClick, but its been stuck at the following for about 10 minutes and SuperOneClick has frozen at this point:

Code:
Starting ADB Server...
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully

OK

Waiting for device...

OK

Getting OS version...
2.3.3
OK

2.3.3
Pushing psneuter...
2225 KB/s (585731 bytes in 0.257s)

OK

chmod psneuter...

OK

Running psneuter...

Is it normal for it to take this long?

edit - hold tight, just seen BlackDragon had the same issue, just factory resetting in recovery and wiping cache to see if it resolves the issue.

SuperOneClick was over in a few seconds here.

There have been reports of it freezing, search back in this thread or over on XDA.

Thanks. Have tried a factory reset and wiping the cache, but I'm now in a boot loop. Going to look over at XDA, but if anyone has any input I'd be grateful.

Only got my SGS2 today and I'm eager to play with it!!

For Boot Loop, reboot phone in to Recovery Mode, Vol Up + Home + Power.

Then wipe the cache and factory reset.

Then in to Download Mode, Vol Down + Home + Power.

Use Odin to flash

edit:/ just re read your post, i.e. already tried factory reset. Can you get in to Download?

Yes, can get to Download OK. Should I flash the stock firmware again?

400+ pages on SuperOneClick on XDA, I'm having fun!!

I would start with the official KE7 firmware again.

Have a read through ChainFire's insecure kernel thread for superoneclick issues, should be easier to find an answer to why it freezes.

I reflashed the stock KE7 firmware again, that got rid of the bootloop. SuperOneClick has failed again, just looking over at XDA now.

OK, have flashed stock firmware again and flashed Chainfire's kernel. Now I have root, do I need to worry about flashing back to the secure kernel? Since SuperOneClick keeps failing can I just leave things as they are until I can look into this issue further?

I am currently on holiday in turkey and got my s2 a few days before departure. i would just like to say a few observations that i have come across.

Being a long term windows mobile user then moving to iphone 4 for 12 months just to give it a whirl. then getting bored of ios and switching to android with a galaxy s2 i am having mixed feelings about my experience so far.

first of all i want to say that the screen in sunlight is so bad i am seriously considering ditching just because of that, i was out this afternoon and the phone was completely unusable. the worst i have ever seen. i nearly fed it to the fish. completely opposite in normal light. the screen is a joy. such a shame it is so bad in the sun.

other quick giggles. and i know there are other apps to try but bare in mind i am abroad and have limited wifi access.

Music player is a dissapointment.
Stock mail is total fubar. not even a read all messages option! Come on!
Touch wiz is too limited. using launcher pro which is good but not perfect.
Keyboard is ok but annoying in the same ways the iphone keyboard is.
landscape keyboard is way too big. takes up Most of a webpage!
Screen res is ok. not great. blacks make up for it as you all know.
no text runaround when zooming which can be a pain.
Lock screens are crap.

Its not all bad.

battery is good and getting better after more discharges and charges.
customization i like but takes ages to get stuff how i like.
camera ok so far.
Speed is good but not the shockingly fast i expected.

there is more pros and cons but overall so far i can't decide if i hav

e made a mistake or not?

I am a fan of HTC in general and part of me wishes i had waited for the sensation. Another part of me wishes i had stuck with the iphone. and the other says stick with samsung. Main bug for me is screen in sunlight. major problem. gggggrrrrr. rant over. hehe

You haven't made a mistake no, as you said yourself you can fix most if not all of your issues once you get home from holiday and download some apps.

No device is perfect but this comes pretty close after installing/uninstalling a few things :)

Well as I said before if you have root then your not going to need to use superoneclick again are you? Just flash the kernel with ODIN.

Insecure kernel or the cf-root kernel?

Yeah, all sorted now. So what is the point of SuperOneClick then? The Odin flash and root guide over at XDA gives explicit steps to use it, but you obviously don't need to.

I just flashed Chainfire's KE7 kernel from here with Odin.

Then to answer your question. You didn't need SuperOneClick to push the root files as they're now part of the cf-root kernel. The older insecure kernel was just a one bit modified kernel that allowed access to push system files. Incidentally you don't need to use SuperOneClick, you can push files using ADB (Android Debug Bridge). It's just easier for noobs.

...I normally have the screen at its lowest setting. Obviously when I took the phone out the other day, 23° really warm and bright bright sunlight I couldn't see very much at all :D could just see enough to adjust the brightness though, whacked it up to full and it was more than adequate

Can someone confirm.. after going through the flash process... do future firmwares become available through Kies or do you have to manually flash each time?

All those things you mentioned can be adjusted or even changed you can change the screen setting etc. When you get back down load some new apps as well to suit your requirements.
