****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Just had a call back from P4U at Cribbs Causeway Bristol saying they have released the stock for sale now. Have reserved on for pick up in an hours time.

Probably going to go for a Panther £40 tariff reduced to £35 with £5 bill credit. 900 minutes, unlimited texts, 750Mb internet + email and wifi and free phone.

May I be the first to say...you lucky b@st@rd! :D

So anyone heard from P4U yet? Not particularly upset if it doesn't arrive tomorrow (or in fact, until next week), i'd just like to be on the ball so i can go straight down the couriers after work to pick it up.

Not yet, Orange haven't called back either which is very annoying. I'm hoping it was just a courtesy call as I cancelled my current contract with them but I'm worried there may have been a problem with my order.

If you ordered from P4U it may put your mind at ease that i ordered over the phone and everything, including the credit check, was done by them. If there was a problem with the order they would have rang you, not orange (i think)

Is anyone on Three? BuyMobilePhones are doing the phone for free, 24 month contract, £30 a month with 1GB data, 900 mins, and unlimited texts on Three. This seems like a better deal than the Vodafone one, but I'm not sure about the network...

I just rang orange on the helpline number and asked why I'd been called. The woman said she dodn't know but confimed what you said that if there was a problem with my new order P4U would have phoned me.

I reckon because I cancelled my current contract and it has 30 days to expire they call you to try and change your mind (like Sky do when you cancel) in the meantime and I'm guessing whoever called didn't get the memo that I'd set up a new contract with them anyway.

It's a good deal in terms of mins etc, but i personally would never go with 3 again.

Yes when coverage was good it was fast, and there was coverage in many places you'd expect. However what upset me was that the coverage website fibbed to me, saying that i'd have good coverage at work, which i don't. Their customer services have been terrible, despite forking out for phone insurance they constantly dodged an issue with my phone (yes, fool me for going with phone insurance) to the point where, after 3 months of issues, i just gave up as my contract was about to expire.

When i cancelled my contract i got a phonecall from them persuading me to stay, during which the operator claimed:
1. Mobiles.co.uk is a scam website 'Do not trust them, they will steal your money' to be precise
2. The HTC Wildfire was a 'better newer phone' than the Samsung Galaxy S
3. The mast near my workplace had an issue which would be fixed last weekend (signal was still terrible today, so i'm assuming another lie, especially considering i've been told the issue would be fixed three times over 6 months)
4. Three are apparently by far the best for network coverage in the UK and it was my phone that was causing the issue (untrue and last i checked, ofcom said Voda were the best but meh, can't be bothered checking for proof)

Dire customer services for me.

As a side note, just checked the P4U forums and apparently someone just rang customer services to be told that stock had not been allocated at all and people should expect their phones on Tuesday next week. I'm not too fussed but if that's true the dude who i spoke to when i bought the phone lied to me, which i don't like.

Am hoping to pick one up sim free from P4U, spoke to the manager today who said they were having a stock in tomorrow and if there were enough I'd be able to buy sim free as contract takes priority...fingers crossed they'll have enough in!!!

Hmm, thanks for the feedback Streeteh.

So, do I risk Three, do I lose my number and go with T-Mobile (but get a shorter contract), or do I go with the safe option of Vodafone and get fewer minutes and a long contract. Argh!

Oops forgot to say, will be using with my Giff Gaff £10 goody bag of 250mins, unlimited texts and unlimited internet :D

why not upgrade with t-mobile? ive been told they will have this phone in may ( if u can wait and u can keep ur number)

Because, based on what's on their website, they are currently offering me an HTC Desire for £70 when I upgrade...based on what I can tell, their upgrade deals are never going to be as good as their new deals.

That said, I spoke to them today to get my PAC, and they have promised to phone me back as soon as they know the upgrade deal they can do for me. If they call me soon enough, I'll give them the chance.

Does anyone know if these good deals we're seeing at the moment - the Vodafone one in particular - are likely to expire any time soon after the phone is launched? Are they pre-order specials?

From the P4U forum...

Hi all,

This is my last update for you of the day... Stock has arrived and we have allocated stock to many orders. I'm not aware of a sell out at this time, however I do know that we have received a high level of demand for the handset

I'm not going to be here tomorrow or for the next week infact "I’m not doing a runner because of the above posts, lol" I'm off on holiday ! Jen Palmer will be back to answer any questions you may have. I've provided as much information as possible on the status so fingers crossed your phones will arrive tomorrow!!

I do want to advise to anyone new to this thread, that all orders are subject to stock availability and relevant checks

The use of "many" seems like a bit of a get out to me. When it doesn't come tomorrow they will say you were one of the unlucky ones.

Still no confirmation email my end. :(

Aye, looks like no one/a small handful will get theirs tomorrow now, with the majority having to wait till Thursday/next Tuesday. It also worries me the mention of not knowing about stock shortages. Sounds to me that people like myself who ordered today might end up on the sold out side of the scale and have to wait a few weeks for more. Not ideal at all as it'll mean adding yet another month to my existing contract while i wait.

The lack of or rather, conflicting information is a little disappointing. I don't mind waiting, i'd just like to know how long i should expect to wait.

Called them up again and they said its in the warehouse awaiting dispatch, asked if its likely for tomorrow he said not very likely now so very disappointing advertising delivery on the 27th then not following it through.

I may switch my order if it doesn't come on Thursday as there are better deals about.
