****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

223MB is a bit of a beefy patch, so yeah I'd imagine ICS.

Yep, it was ICS. Glad it was over the air as I still have not been able to successfully get KIES working on my PC!!!

3 or 4 trial games were in the download as well, which I deleted sharpish. On the whole, apart from different settings screens it feels the same, as it should as I have GoLauncher installed.

Now, which launcher do I get (Go launcher has "improved" far too much with all the updates imo, it was better a few months ago). I just want something that allows folders on the app drawer. i quite liked the "stock" ICS on my old touchpad, bar the lack of folders.

Edit: Am I the only one who waited for the official ICS release on unlocked phones? I didn't notice anyone in this thread mention it being released, I just got it by randomly doing a software update check!

I think it was nova launcher prone that supported actual folders in the app drawer so check that out although I do remember finding out a bit buggy

Has anyone here experianced the echo problem when using a Case with the Galaxy S2?

I get it with my Case Mate Tough.

I've made the microphone hole bigger, and tried turning noise reduction off.. but it can't be permanently disabled

It can depending on rom/mod. And yes I have the problem, or did. :)

I think it has to be something to do with certain cases that create a tunnel effect by either microphone causing the echo as sounds enter the mic through the hole.

unlocked generic here - was mention in the thread a few weeks ago. I did mine via Kies. On the whole a very worthwhile upgrade.

Hey guys, I'm completely out of the loop with software updates and nothing new ever came up on my automatic update checks until now. I'm still on android 2.3.5. Yes you can all laugh. :p So what's the deal with this Ice Cream Sandwich, what will I notice, is it much better, and should I bother? I'm a bit worried that it says it's going to reset stuff. :( I haven't use kies for a long time, but should I do a backup first and will restoring my back up put my settings back the way they were?

Heh, I'll do it. I'm gonna do a backup first anyway, haven't done one once since october and I've just updated the latest kies.

This it won't remove anything apart from maybe widgets/icons from the home screen.

Enable Force GPU rendering under settings > developer options

Reboot & I guess enjoy Samsungs take on ICS :p

After or before the update? Can't find developers options under settings.

Does this firmware update need to be done through kies or just from the phone?

My phone has started downloading the update package, and I'm also connected to kies which is asking me to install new firmware. PDA:LP7.

Will my backup I'm about to do first restore my launcher pro homescreen widget/icon/docksettings as they look now? Sorry for all the questions. :o

o2 are harsh. Still no ice cream sandwiches here for a loyal customer (who is moving to giffgaff on the 23rd may :p)

After :)

LP7 is a decent build :)

o2 Still have the phone recycle scheme on the S2 for £230 so I've registered for that but have put it in FB/G+ too to see if anyone I know/knows me is interested before the 2 weeks is up!

It's probably going to o2 though, just means I'll have to sell the extended battery and other bits on their own. I'm sure someone will be interested in those :p
