Quick question: How does one turn off 3G? I've held the power button on the side and set 'Data network mode' to deactivated but this still shows as 'UMTS' in network type which afaik is still 3G?

I am not keen for it to be locked hence the questions I ask and the responses I give to the answers proffered.

With respect to your second comment re: unlocking. That is pure conjecture on your part. To date, none of us, including you, know if this handset can be unlocked in that fashion.

Apologies, it looked like you did. I must have misread.

I understand at this stage it can't be guaranteed to be unlocked online. I asked a reputable online unlocking website what the chances were and this was their reply:

This should be no problem at all. That's because there's one main database for all European Samsung Android handsets. We have unlocked the Samsung Galaxy S from all 6 main UK networks.

suggestion: take it back and get a replacement. its faulty.


will be getting mine in 3 weeks i think (maybe 4) as im on hols (unless i see it stateside? is it even out over there?)

was in soton today and a guy in the p4u shop didnt know o2 were doing it for £400 sim free - to which he promptly replied 'yeh id just buy it from there' lol classic.
 
Decided to save £100 and take up the O2 PAYG offer instead. O2 branding tends to be minimal anyway, who knows with all these rush orders there may be no time for any branding... ;)

It's not majorly dark but for me annoyingly so...perhaps it's a weakness of the AMOLED tech..can't compare at the mo as store out of stock.:(
 
Sigh, just got an email from BuyMobilePhones.net saying my order has been despatched, despite me cancelling it. Oh well, I suppose I can just refuse the delivery.

Orange are a joke....i was going to just get a second line with them but the phone isn't out till June-if ever

My theory is they are doing all they can to focus on selling the Atrix-as they are the UK carrier....how many people will buy the Atrix if the S2 is on offer?
 
Well i only went with orange in the first place due to UMA on blackberries but now all the decent phones dont have that so not sure if its worth staying with them. I was looking at the atrix but it seems the S2 > atrix?

T-Mobile are doing both.
 
i have got one on a upgrade on o2 i got it on the 28th on a £36 a month with no charge for the phone i just did my upgrade at fones for you
