antenna/end of it.. its actually a short white cable that goes from that part(its a connector) to the bottom of your phone to the mini usb pcb and connects there too.. - had to replace it so i had to mess with that too :D
 
That isn't the part the white antenna cable attatches to.

Someone on XDA thought it was a connection for an external antenna, then when they attached one they broke their phone :D.

I can't remember if it was actually an external antenna connection, and the guy just did it wrong, or whether it was something else.

Yeah the antenna connects a bit below that and within the back casing, this protrudes through a hole in the back casing (yet still inside the back cover) for some reason which is what made me a bit confused.
 
Is it easy to unlock this phone? (Locked to O2)
My gf's looking for a simple method to unlock this phone and put her new Vodafone sim in (even if it costs money)

I'm guessing you're talking about Chainfire's app? That'll only work on older handsets (I got my S2 around July last year and people were already saying it didn't work anymore, worked fine on mine though :D).

There's a couple of other apps on the market that can unlock newer phones using a different method if Chainfire's (called "[root] Galaxy S2 SIM Unlock" on market) doesn't find the code.

I'd try Chainfire's app first, if that doesn't find the code try GalaxSIM unlock :).

Edit: Forgot to add, all of these apps will need you to be rooted, rooting is ridiculously easy though :).

Still loving JB official leak. Only a small lock screen bugs but the number of small tweaks that are awesome is amazing e.g. I can display a "if lost please call..." message on the lock screen!

Google now is brilliant.

The change to the launcher colours is so much more attractive

I can't wait for the next leak!
 
Ok, I may have semi-bricked my phone flashing it with this JB leak (I know slap on the wrist for not reading up properly!).

I think Odin ended up hanging during the process so I had to reboot the phone - ended up with the phone/laptop icon and could only get into download mode.

I can use Odin to get CF-Root on there which gives me recovery mode back.

Latest attempt to download and flash with o2 stock rom using Check Fus failed. Message is Write operation failed after hidden.img

Any ideas on what went wrong?

EDIT: I didn't realise that after the warning triangle I can actually boot into the o2 stock rom (noob). Hopefully that means I can flash with JB now and it will work..

The warning triangle just means that you're not running a stock rom/kernel :). I had it for a year or so because I couldn't be bothered with a USB jig/Triangle-Away :p.

Make sure Kies.exe isn't running in task manager, that'll break Odin :).
 
Thanks - I had another go at JB but that one didn't seem to work. May experiment with some other custom roms and see how I get on. At least I can get back to a working phone and breathe again!

Ok I am back to the CPW stock rom. It works but my USB storage is damaged and my SD card won't mount. Any ideas on that? I may have clicked re-partition in Odin when I attempted to flash with JB.

Sorted, reflashed with the 16gb pit file and all is well - even the data is there! Never again...

Anyone know of a mirror for stock ROMs for this that can be flashed from Odin? My brother's S2 went faulty so was replaced (twice!) and this refurbed one isn't playing ball with any custom ROM at all and I don't get why either.

I just want to install a stock ROM via Odin and tell him to just deal with it as I'm fed up now of having to faff with his S2 all the time!
