***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Why would you want to protect the back of the flip case with another case?

You could use a silicon type case and cut the left edge off.

The samsung flip case replaces the back cover, so it isn't giving you anymore protection on the back than the standard S3. Only advantage is your not scratching your original backplate. So something like casemate barely there on the back I thought would be great in theory.

It looks like someone has sat there for a few hours with a key scratching at the back of it, The speaker looks like it has been taken off a £5 toy & shoved onto a high end product it looks really out of place. Then there is the glossy look which looks cheap.

Again my opinion everyone has different tastes! :)

Have you seen it in person? The brushed effect looks one way in pictures but in person it looks a heck of a lot better. Even I couldn't photograph how good the brushed effect looks from the other night which is why I never posted the back pic :p

I'll give it a go tonight though!

To date, none of the pictures, official or otherwise, that I have seen online show the brushed effect how it is in reality. This is on the refreshed blue handset btw which looks a lot nicer than the first one I saw in P4U.

I can see my original post/question getting buried and never answered, as RazrLite said of his, so I will try to be more succinct.

1. Will a S3 from Germany be identical to one here?
(aside from maybe changing the language)

2. Does a Vodafone (UK or prefereably German) 32gb S3 have any branding, apps, etc.
Basically any reference to vodafone on the device at all?

Any advice would be fantastic, or maybe a suggestion for somewhere better suited to my question if not here.

1) Yes - network dependent.
2) Has 4 apps (Some are removable, I might have installed my Vodafone) - My Vodafone, Updates, App Select, Discover. Updates is the updater for the other apps, App Select is a app store, Discover is some kind of crappy app suggester, My Vodafone is the account manager and the only useful one of them. There are no other customisations on it, cosmetic or under the skin - I checked.

Yup I used a blue one in P4U earlier in the week(Wednesday to be precise :p), Overall it is smooth. But the design is just

I dunno people said the SGS2 looked cheap I personally think this looks even cheaper, Saying that though even the SGS2 could have been a whole lot better.

I can vouch for that, I hated the blue in pictures but when I went into the three store coventry I changed my mind completely.

1. Not sure, probably.

2. Definitely. If you buy it from Vodafone directly, it WILL have branding.

VF have learnt their lesson with this and now don't really brand phones much past the APN etc.
I believe they do install a single application on the S3, but obviously you can hide that within the app drawer.
They are certainly not dripping with useless junk like they were 3 or 4 years ago.

My desire is 2 years old now, came direct from VF and has absolutely nothing on it, my mates one that came from Orange at the same time has all sorts of junk on it that he can't get rid of without rooting.

Awesome, good news it's just apps. Guessing with some rooting etc I can get rid of all that. Main concern was outer branding on the phone itself. Thankyou for the reply!

Agree with you there as well!

I love the looks of the GS 2, looks very professional and has a nice sleek/minimal design and didn't really look cheap overall IMO and defended it when people said it looked like a cheap fisher price toy.

But the GS 3 IMO does look very cheap (both white and pebble blue), particularly the back part.

You could always get it gold plated... :D

ED: Just found a case for over £200 that is covered with 1k Swarovski crystals. SMH.

They had to have a change of design direction because of apple. The GS3 is all about nature and user friendly interfaces, I don't think gun metal and metal fit that criteria.

I've been using mine for a week and don't think it feels cheap..? Nor has anyone that has used it, if I wanted a cheap phone I'd go out and buy a one S. :p

The one thing that I don't like on the SGS2 was the fact that Samsung needed to put their logo on the thing twice, I think it should have just been on the back. But I imagine they did that so Apple wouldn't complain more so than they already have!

I also think the phone is much better with the extended battery, The way it feels & the way it protects the camera & makes it all flush. It is the way the phone should have been if Samsung didn't have a fetish with thin stuff.

(again my opinions) :p

It is most definitely the back that puts me off the SGS3, But I also don't like that brushed effect. The home button didn't feel too great either.

[edit:- I don't begrudge people for liking this phone & I am glad that you are happy with your purchases. But I feel Samsung could have done a whole lot better]

Good god no! Don't want to make it look any worse than what it is already! :p

I know, but I am sure that they could have come up with something far better? Even just a better camera/speaker/flash design and had on screen buttons like the GN would have made a nice difference IMO.

It wouldn't have, but it would have looked far better IMO and I don't think anyone really cares about all this nature stuff that they were going on about :p Was certainly at the bottom of my list :p

I personally think it does even compared to the GS 2, but it is nicer to hold in the hand than the GS 2, which is a big plus.

My friend (who now owns the GS 3 white) hates the design and look of the mobile as well, he was ranting and raving to me about it on steam chat when it was being presented along with it not having super specs like 2GB RAM, 1080P screen, 12MP camera etc. lol :p Yet he still went and bought it anyway and still hates the looks/design and has now got a case mate tough on, lol.

Personal preference at the end of the day, some will love it and think it is best there is and that is fair enough and all that matters at the end of the day really :)

pffft, you have no taste! :p

The black S2 looks better than the white S3. The blue S3 looks better than both.

One S looks too cute, appeals to girls!

Controversial :p

How is this deal?

24months, 300mins, Unlimited Texts and 750MB of data on T-Mobile for £26ppm. This is with £80 upfront for the phone and £250 for my 16GB iPhone 4.

That's at CPW, I'm tempted to pop up tonight after work and take it out.

Is that not a standard thing really? :p

I thought all brands have their logo/name on the front and back?

My S has hTC at the top of the screen and then engraved on the back. Not too bothered by it personally, although I would have preferred it to be at the top of screen only.
