***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Looks too good to be true because it seems it is :p That's a fake Rock case as the recess dimensions don't match up and there's no Rock branding on the bottom as well as no small lip for the camera area hole!

First whole day of heavy usage, I've been using the camcorder throughout, sending and receiving files over Wireless-N, sending and receiving files using S-Beam (which uses WiFi Direct), playing games, surfing the web, multiplayer games syncing, social networks and so on. Mixture of WIFi and HSDPA usage and a quick session of Satnav testing.

Brightness was varied from 35% to 100% outdoors.

I would never even dream of getting 4hours+ with the S2 and extended battery. Not over 16 hours anyway!

Edit* Bugger, I realise I never screenshotted the details screen there, I sent the screenshots over as I was in bed last night so half asleep. Still, that's the time with not even idle battery consumption thrown in over night. Factor that in and it's well over 24 hours :p

Also, USB OTG works fine, paired up an SSD formatted using exFAT, NTFS gives an error that the FS is unsupported although we all know that will change with custom kernels :p

Interesting to note, people freezing stuff using Titanium, don't freeze MyFiles.apk as when you plug a USB drive in, it calls for MyFiles which auto loads and shows you the drive contents. MyFiles is also called in other areas around the phone.

Whoa.. whats that white SATA-USB dongle thingy there mrk?

I've had a Martin Fields one on my S2 and its been great so I've order one of them again.

The Zagg on my sisters S2 is rubbish, loads of friction and the protector feels rough.

Martin Fields is not (imo as a previous owner) and never was worth £13... I buy £3 screen protectors from Ebay (ecell is usually a reliable provider, and based in UK so postage doesnt take ages) that have performed no differently to the expensive ones.

Anyone still on the fence between blue or white, the brushed effect really does look fantastic up close, sod the naysayers!

Came free with the Samsung SSD I bought last week, turns out bundled items do come in handy :p

I agree with this really, if you are spending more then £2-3 for screen protectors you are being ripped off. I have a cheap screen protector on my Note and have had it on since day 1, and very few people can even tell it has one on. You have to look very carefully around the edges to see it's there, absolutely no bubbles at all, the same with all my previous phones.

I ordered the xtreme guard (link above) since they worked out around £2 each, and that's not bad for a full body protection shield. If they turn out to be good, I might order a few more and charge people to fit them.

It does in those pictures, you've taken them specifically so that they favour it, in others it doesn't look so good... :p

The home button colouring is utterly dire though!

The pebble blue GS 3 does look good in your photos mrk (still need to see it in real life) but then again you could even make dog's **** look great with your camera and photography skills! :p

Just out of interest what in the manufacturing process causes the OLED spots and splodges, ive noticed these on my S2.

I'd guess it's due to the nature of the screen itself, thousands of tiny organic LEDs, some are bound to exhibit differences I guess, especially on new generations of screen. I'm surprised that it wasn't spotted on the dummycased units people were sent out all over the world though, or maybe it was and there wasn't much that could be done...who knows.

It would be a bit odd taking photos of something other than the finish when I'm trying to capture the details of the finish though :p

Yeah it's a bummer the home button isn't the same shade but I won't let that bug me ;)

Cheers! The back is way too hard to get a decent shot of though, it's far to dee a gloss and simply bounces all light from the flash!

To me even in your photos the brushed effect still looks tacky... I prefer the consistent colour and smoothness of the white. The home button colouration, as has been said above, also looks a little pap. And in the nd there's just something about blue on a phone that reminds me of low-end Nokias... :(

I would agree on the above, those photos mrk took remind my of my old Nokia E91 , very similar brushed effect. I suspect if they have done a gloss black version similar to the white it would have been less visually striking than the brushed effect they've gone for, hasten to add, would gloss black be boring?

That's where you and I have to agree to disagree!

Basides, the blue on old Nokia phones was more blue than this! I had a blue 6110/6150 back in the day and that was matte blue!

White is just too plain for my liking these days, seems a lot of other folks too :p

Edit*
If they did a gloss black I'd imagine that scratches would show up much quicker due to the nature of the colour on all things that are glossy black from metal to plastics. That's an interesting point when they do release a black, keep an eye on that area!

Anyone ordered a Proporta case? I quite like the look of this Union Jack one... it'd go very well with the white phone methinks! http://www.proporta.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s3-case-union-jack

Furry muff... each to their own and all that. I just don't find the blue overly elegant or flattering. :)

EDIT - Just gave it the gf test and showed her a few Youtube comparison vids of the Marble and pebble and the first thing she said after a while of looking was: "The blue makes it look older". I asked her why and she said it reminds her of the phones she used to see when she was younger. Purely psychological and subjective, but echoes my sentiments.

My missus opinion on both white and pebble blue versions.

White one looks to girly and the pebble blue looks more masculine...that's her opinion obviously lol. Personally I prefer the blue version myself...having seen both in real life, my opinion still remains the same in that the white version looks too boring and bland. Also another plus for the pebble blue version is that unlike the white one, the blue one has a cut out for the led whereas the white one bleeds far too much for my liking.

Been told by the missus that if I get a white one, then she's filing for divorce lol...not a chance in hell am I getting a gay white coloured phone lol.

I find it a bit sad that you're relying on a phone to prove your masculinity... ;) :p
