***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

well im doing it now with the video, done exactly everything it has said and while the guy in the video has completed i've got nowhere. his was fast mine is taking ages lol

It does take a few minutes lol, I think they must have fast-fwd that part of the video. Unless you have done something badly wrong and your phone is slowly in the process of getting bricked.. :p /jk

all done. it was easy. it's just this is my first ever GOOD phone. always had **** phones and an iphone3gs

i am scared ****less of vreaking the phone as the s3 is bloody good and i have no insurance lol

it worked. very impressed

now was wondering about this rumour that google now drains the battery and there is a way to stop it doing stuff in the background but you can still use it when you open it.

Gnow - Go into Google Now (long press menu button) and then press Menu, Settings, Google Now and press the slider at the very top to turn it off.

Latitude - Go to Maps, Settings, Location Settings and uncheck all the boxes.

You may want to reboot your phone after this to make sure all the services are stopped.

some apps have stayed on my phone which i presumed were orange apps (ones which i don't ever use) is there anyway to delete apps i don't want. it still wont let me delete them

Only way to delete them is using titanium backup but you need to be rooted in order to do so. With titanium backup you can freeze the apps or delete them completely.

If you dont want to root then just hide them or delete the icons. Sadly they come as part of the branding that is on Orange handsets.

i'll leave them then. anything else i need to know about jellybean

i presume keis wont work now?

how will i know if there is an update. it seems to have a samsung update as part of this ro,. will this keep my phone up to date from now on?

chaton ??????

never used it

Pretty sure thats a samsung app and not orange, i had it on mine but when i installed a custom ROM i had the option to take it out...which i did and i no longer have it on my S3.

Again you need to be rooted in order to install custom ROMS.

Im running wanamlite v4.2 which is a JB build but without all bloatware that comes with a standard rom.

That's part of samsungs apps, never used it here either. I just deleted the icon from the homescreen and left it at that.

i'll stick to this rom for now. i'll consider something different later on

Best to leave it as it is, and just update via Odin every time there is a new firmware. From time to time if you just check this thread or that xda forums link (bookmark it), they will normally upload a new stock firmware as soon as it becomes available. You don't need to wait for Orange to pull their finger out. :)

Thanks guys, just read back a couple of pages and tuck the plunge. T-mobile were taking too long via kies so I just downloaded and installed JB myself. Much better! :D

You can do it using a terminal emulator using CHMOD or by using a file manager with root access like file expert or root manager.
