***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Thanks for clearing that up.

Did you unlock via *#197328640# method or did you use a ebay code?

No worries, unfortunately I used a code from ebay because I didn't know about the *#197328640# method at the time.

However the seller on ebay was extremely fast and provided the code within 30 mins of me buying it!

That's bad...some people are so caught up in the world that only Apple make smartphones.

My Mate was in a Supermarket the other day and some bloke came up to him and asked if the S3 he was holding was "Apple Galaxy?"

He gave him a look and walked away!

On another note I've bought the N4 late last week and have been using it, although it's a very good phone something's missing from it to the point that the user experience almost feels "soulless"

I can't put my finger on it but I feel that the S3 brings an all round user experience, little things like Smart Stay and other implementations that Samsung have placed in Touchwiz are just the icing on the cake.

The N4 is better built and looks classy but ergonomically the S3 is better to hold.

Sure the N4 will get all the updates first but Samsung hasn't been slouching on the update front and the latest 4.1.2 premium suite update brings a host of features to the S3 that give an enhanced experience.

Don't get me wrong the N4 is a great phone but I feel that the S3 is just a little bit better.

It's the 'real' home button :D

What's this unlock method

Below:

For those who are asking the S3 LTE doesn't have any branding whatsoever on the phone however it is locked to the EE network.

It might however be unlocked by trying this unlocking procedure

Just dial the following keys *#197328640#

Main Menu > [1] UMTS > [1] Debug Screen > [8] Phone Control > [6] Network Lock > Options [3]Perso SHA256 OFF > (after choosing this option, wait about 30 seconds, then go back one step by pressing the Menu button then select Back, now you are in [6] Network Lock then choose [4] NW Lock NV Data INITIALLIZ ..... wait for a minute then reboot your phone... enjoy!!! There is no confirmation on the phone that the unlock was successfull.... just reboot your phone....

To test, just insert a sim card from a different carrier/provider. If the new sim card works then your phone is now unlocked.

If not there are a few sellers on eBay that offer unlocking for around £10

No not just yet stoosh - I've got my S3 setup just how I want it at the minute.

Once I get bored with it I will move to Pandoriam - just hate the thought of having to set everything up again.

I've had a play on Pandoriam 4.5 on my mates S3 - It's nice and all but all I really want is the blue status bar up top (just the signal/battery icons etc). Other than than that my S3 on stock (with root) is pretty perfect.

Do you know if in Aroma there is an option just to change the status bar and theme nothing else?

I know what you mean I too hate having to set everything else up again.

There isn't an option just to change the status bar and theme as you have install the rest of the ROM which has it extras.

I remember Nexus mentioning an app where you can change the status bar, I think it was called Statusbar+ or something similar.

I'm back on stock now as I'm waiting on Samsung to release 4.1.2, I wonder how long after the i9300 crew we will be?

Sorry I meant install the whole Pandoium rom (with it's tweaks) with the stock Samsung theme, but just change the status bar theme to AOSP?

I thought Aroma was all about picking and choosing the bits you want?

Sorry Mate, yes that's right you can install the ROM and change the status bar and theme either with stock Samsung or with other themes. There's so many options included in the Aroma installer it can get quite confusing!

I might try v5 but will probably wait a week or two for Samsung to release 4.1.2 for our i9305.

Yeah status bar+, omega status bar and super status bar will allow you to customise the status bar (without rooting), but they are a bit buggy.

Thanks Nexus, shame that these apps are buggy because the concept is spot on.

Indeed!

They have so much potential but unfortunately the developers aren't great.

I would only trust the developer of nova/widgetlocker to create a good replacement status bar app. Maybe some day, he will :p

If only the dev from Nova launcher did incorporate a status bar theme into the launcher that would be so awesome! Good thinking Mate, you should contact the Dev and suggest it!

Would be great if he could do it that way, but I don't think it is possible and plus he would probably want to keep it as a separate app, easier to develop, problem/bug solve etc.

I did post in his widget locker and nova thread asking him to make one :p But he probably never saw it :( :p So will try to email him and see if he has any plans on making one in the future :)

Yeah I think the best thing for me to do is get CWM installed, make a Nandroid of my stock ROM/setup and then go have a play with Pandoriam :)

so my week old GS3 have developed a small fault in the last couple of days where it would fail to send messages even when there is good signal.
has this happened to anyone before?

Two quick pic requests please! Could anyone with the Titanium grey LTE S3 do a front shot with the screen off, and also a shot of the back please?

Does it have LTE logos on it like the one on the right here:
