Thought I'd point out that flashing a stock rom causes you to lose root, hence using mobile odin to root the firmware again during flashing.

Or just install that apk after you've flashed a stock rom :p I'm just lazy.
 
Are you going for CM10 or 10.1? If the latter then make sure you have the latest CWM touch recovery.

Also ideally you need to come from stock ICS before you flash 10/10.1 for NFC to work :p
 
Yeah it's a bit of a pain. There's an nfc.zip fix that you can flash if you can't be bothered, but apparently it's more of a work around and not the same as coming direct from ICS. If you don't use nfc that much then it's not really a problem I guess.
 
Actually I've never used NFC, so maybe I'll try CM afterall.. Is it ok going from 4.1.2 wanam for instance?

I'm downloading the 2 links Bloomfield posted, and the rom appears to be only 168mb. is that right? :/
 
If anyone has used CM 10.1 on the S3 can you confirm if wifi tethering worked or not please?
I can't find it listed as specifically not working but when I tried I couldn't get anything to connect.
Main hitch with several ROMs has been this! Seems a bit random too.

Yeah, 168 is right, Samsung based ROMs are so big because of all the apps that Samsung include that aren't included in AOSP ROMs :).
 
i'm now running on the new crdroid and i find it a lot more stable and usefull than wanamalite. i'm sure i can also have more apps on the screen at one time (am i imagining this ? )

i have got an unreleated question though which would be very much appreciated if it can be answer lol

does anyone know of an app that sync facebook profile photos with my phone contact list but the photos remain a high quality. it seems the ones i try downgrade the quality of the pics
 
Does anyone know how I would can fix my phone? I'm out of ideas.

Earlier I tried flashing a new recovery .tar and now the phone doesn't boot. It's just hanging on the Samsung boot screen. I can get into download mode, BUT I don't have a data cable with me because I just moved house :(

Any ideas?

Pull the battery, switch the phone on pressing volume up, home button and power button, that will go into Samsung's recovery mode. Scroll down and choose factory reset /wipe data that should do the trick.
