***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

So its a software issue then?..i thought it was a hardware problem???...if so then fat lot a software update will do lol:p

They are saying it's firmware related. All the folk that dropped their phones in water were trying to pull a fast one. :p

To be honest I would take everything that Sammobile with a pinch of salt as they've reported on stuff before and most of the time they've been wildly off the mark, their track record isn't really great.

I'd wait on Samsung to say something official on the matter (if they can be bothered to)

It doesn't make sense that people's motherboards are being fried and it's all down to firmware?

The only thing I can think off is that there's a bug in the firmware that constantly writes to the NAND and eventually burns it out.

The whole thing is strange...but if Samsung have sorted out the problem with a firmware fix then good for them

Pretty much my thoughts on it as well. Mine is still running, bought in Aug of last yr...so far havent had any major issues with mine.

But i still cant see how its a firmware problem, im under the impression that its hardware but like you said if its fixed via a firmware update then great.

It does yeh. But once you're rooted it makes it easier to flash stock roms and root them on the fly.

I found it handy recently when going between CM10 and Touchwiz Jellybean roms. Had to flash a stock rom before Installing CM10 so just did everything with mobile odin :)
