***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Hi folks I rooted my phone a while ago using the Exynos abuse method which works flawlessly and I can turn root on and off no problem. My phone is stock 4.1.2 Baseband i9300BUELK1, Build XXELL5 and I'd really like to update to the latest version but I really don't know how to go about it. Can I just use Kies? Will I still have a Modified status? Sorry I'm such a noob :o

Cheers, J

Now that is some battery loss, from 100% to 75% in half an hour

Hi all, I seem to be having a few issues with my S3. The last few days I have been having issues with the phone freezing for a few seconds and then responds again, About a month ago I had 2 issues of the phone resetting itself, but only twice and no problems after, and now I got a freezing issue.

I am going to try a factory reset first, but I have tried a hard and soft reset and no joy, so I am wondering if I am issues with the chip and is it on the way to the sudden death problem?? Also I am on stock MB5 firmware. Thanks.

Just about to stick my phone on charge after my first proper full day using the extended battery, it's been well used today but I've still got 30% left. The normal battery would have been dead by early evening if I'd given it the same usage.

There's the links to my usage screens

Edit: Didn't stick it on charge last night and it's just reached 1% battery after 1 Day 4 hours and 13 minutes with 6 hours 41 minutes screen time.
It's been awake for over 15 hours of that time playing music, games, web browsing and sending texts with a little video watching too, so it's not one of those look how long my phone lasts when it's doing nothing tests :D

Been out of the loop for a while, currently using WanamLite v4.0.1 and need to update.

Does anyone know if I can just update straight to v6.2 without a wipe, or does it need a full wipe? No worries either way but just wondering if I can save a bit of time.

If it's a JB ROM (I can't remember what version number they started at) then you should be fine to just update straight on top, just clear the cache and dalvik.

Never had an Android phone before and thought I would take the plunge ! :D

I was just wondering with the S4 being released is it still worth getting an S3 ?

If so any ideas on the cheapest place to get one sim free ?

If you want an S3 wait a month until the S4 is released and pick up a mint second hand one for about £225. Enough people will be selling to upgrade. Personally I'd probably wait 2 months if you can for the S4 price to drop slightly after the initial release and hopefully pick one up for about £400~.

I think it'll be longer than that for it to drop by £130, it took the S3 a fair old while to get to around £400

Seen the LTE version for £375 still sealed in the box ? Is that good ??

Recycling places are offering £200~ for the S3, so I'm guessing you could get one for £250~ on eBay.

Depends if you want LTE too. Don't see the point myself :)

Also if you're willing to spend that much on a second hand S3, you should consider a brand new Nexus 4..

Good shout although I dont know a lot about the Nexus except its supposed to be cheap, which it isnt IMO, especially in 16gb flavours ! ;)

The reason for being interested in the S3 was that if I liked it I would either go for the S4 or Note 3 when released.

Also I would really like to keep the number and expense of different desktop chargers and accessories etc to a minimum ;) :D

the reason for me to go for the s3 lte over the normal one would be the extra ram... the lte version has 2gb where we lowly "normal" users only get one
