***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Not noticed that, but i have noticed the sounds crackle a bit with the MB5 update through the speaker or earphones, not sure if something is corrupt, never did it before - in the same light it could be my device though, im sure its dieing or something is broken.

mrk - was it you who had to return a faulty handset only to be told it was caused by water damage when in fact the phone hadn't been anywhere near water? I remember reading something on these forums not long ago, anyone remember who it was?

sounds right mate - mrk will confirm when he see's this.

Yeah I thought it was him. I'm just wondering whether the repair centre was Anovo that claimed his phone had water damage.

Well my pristine, perfectly looked after S3 has got a crack on it. Right above the charging port.

I am sat here using it during my lunchbreak when I noticed a large crack on the bezel just under the home button going all the way down to the port itself. Absolutely cheesed off, as I have never been happy about samsung plastic in the first place.

I was going to sell this on but I just know the chap who did want it, will not after this.

Well the missus lost her phone (have cerberus on but looks like its been turned off since she lost it)

Her replacement arrived yetserday (wrong colour) so got a white one delivered today (Refurb :()

Are there any variations of the S3 I shoudl be aware of?
Don't want a lesser version of the phone that's all.

Gonna get Cerberus back on but would liek to root both hers and mine first.

Whats the current best rom?

Wonder if someone could help, bit of a strange one this.
My brother has a S3 its a sim free phone, he's been complaining that for the last couple of days he's not been able to like posts in facebook, everything was fine up until a couple of days ago. He's using the stock fb app from the play store.
I've had a look at it and nothing seems out of place.
Has anyone else had the same problem, or has anyone experienced this and knows how to resolve the problem.

Cheers

Yup I get the same from time to time, I think it just the FB app thats having a problem as the website works fine. best thing you can do is to clear the app cache and uninstall the app then reboot the phone and reinstall FB all should be ok then.

Thanks BigBoy, he'll be relieved to hear it's not just him. I'll try your suggestion, no good me leaving it to him he'd never work it out :D

As long as you have done the brick bug check and it comes back clean then your all good.

The only the s3 Mini is a completely different handset.

As for Best rom well that up to you, personaly I love the Wanamlite rom its much more streamlined than the default Samsung install and battery life has gone through the roof. I was going 18-24hrs on one charge with the stock rom with the Wanam rom I'm getting 72hrs+

According to the app that brick bug check needs root to run the test?

Is that good or bad lol the app isn't very clear.

Yeah for mine it's more about battery life and getting rid of all the random samsung junk.

Grrrrr. My S3 has been randomly rebooting for the last 2 weeks.
Woke up the morning to find the device stuck on the boot logo screen.

Can't get into recovery mode, but can get into download mode but whilst ODIN can see the device it can't seem to send anything to it. Kies is next useless.
It's got to go back, but being bank holiday weekend that extends the 3-5 working days by a fair amount.

Was on stock unbranded 4.0.4 as delivered and I was thinking of upgrading it this weekend.......this save me a job at least!!

Otherwose, not happy.

If you've never updated the Software you're probably suffering from Sudden Death Syndrome, Samsung should fix it for free :)

That's the impression I got from reading around.

Feel lost without it already!
Thankfully I kept hold of my HTC Desire so at least I'm not completely phoneless for the couple of weeks.

Mine is exactly the same as that, apart from the date mine is 05/12, mine died a few weeks ago, sent back to me working but they didnt change anything inside the device, running the latest firmwares so hopefully it wont happen again.

I had sudden death syndrome, sent it off and it was back today. The repair took around 2 weeks in total.

Mine just died whist charging overnight and the next day it wouldn't charge or even turn on.

Mine was rooted as well, so i was preying the warranty would be OK, and it was!

eeekkkkk

Does that mean mine is going ti die at some point. Im rooted with WanamLite ROM. Had I best get stock on it.

The latest ROMs have the fix implemented, although that doesn't guarantee that it won't die.

Don't worry about putting a stock ROM on it though, if it dies they will repair it, even if you tell them it was rooted :).
