I have always used Omega rom's since having the SG3, but the latest v45.1 (and v45.0) ROM which uses XXUFME3 has caused havoc with my phone, constantly rebooting and freezing, where as it was always rock solid and stable previously, was late to work this morning as it had frozen through the night, really annoyed me tbh.

Reading up on some threads over on XDA loads of people having the same issue, it appears that dropping back to the older XXEMC2 based JB rom's clear the issue, others are saying that the XXEMC3 based (v43.3) rom is fine, so it seems mixed.

Thought it worth posting in case anyone else starts having issues with the newer XXUFME3 based roms.
 
Having a problem making a receiving calls where there is no sound either way and then the network will drop within a couple of seconds. It is pretty intermittant and extremely annoying. I'm pretty sure it's a software problem. Anyone had this and know how to fix it?
 
Biggest problem is actually cell towers doing it (overloading, 999 calls interrupt others, crappy antennas) but it can be phones. If it repeats a lot call your network (191 for voda) and they will go through diag with you.
 
I was convinced this was a Software problem as it is intermittant but I have just Flashed CM10.1 with android 4.2.2 to the phone and still the same problem.

This must mean that its either an app i have downloaded messing with the phone app or its a hardware problem.

Any ideas?
 
Apps can't make calls with the radio interface directly (although one could issue a call close interrupt I guess) so to me it's either driver (Extremely extremely unlikely, 2% chance - replacable on S3s if you want to try), hardware (I'd give it 25% chance - replicate with someone else on voda at the same geographic position if poss?), crappy network mast (the rest). I highly suggest you call 191 still :)
 
I'm with 3. Cant even get through to them at the moment as it wont let me call out at all.

Looking on the net seems like a common problem. No One seems to have a fix. Phone is just out of warranty aswell!
 
4.2.2 the gallery thing is just awesome, at last i can see all my pics when i plug into a pc :)

This was REALLY bugging me from older versions.

Not had any problems using the Wanamlite rom at all, all nice and smooth
 
Is it possible to unlock one of these on Vodaphone running 4.1.2? I have tried the secret method option but it does not work. Dont want to root it btw :) Many thanks and I apologise if this breaks any rules.

Use odin to drop back 4.1.1, then do the menu unlock, then push it back up to 4.1.2. The option 4 button isn't there on .2 but is on .1
 
I went in to a store and had a little look at the S3 and S4. I’m going to be upgrading from my S2 in a few months. Currently I have a relatively cheap deal. £17.50 a month for 500 mins, 5000 txts and 1Gb internet.

What to do? I want to keep it as cheap as possible but want to get a phone that will be upgradeable to the next version of Android. IE Key Lime Pie.

The difference in quality between the S2 and S3 seems immense. The S3 was so much smoother and screen so much crisper and vibrant.

I could get a contract or by the handset and keep my existing sim and tariff right?
