***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

KLP will come to the S4 a lot sooner than the S3.

Go for thr S4 if you can, for the 2 GB RAM, better screen + battery life, and design is better.

I went in to a store and had a little look at the S3 and S4. I’m going to be upgrading from my S2 in a few months. Currently I have a relatively cheap deal. £17.50 a month for 500 mins, 5000 txts and 1Gb internet.

What to do? I want to keep it as cheap as possible but want to get a phone that will be upgradeable to the next version of Android. IE Key Lime Pie.

The difference in quality between the S2 and S3 seems immense. The S3 was so much smoother and screen so much crisper and vibrant.

I could get a contract or by the handset and keep my existing sim and tariff right?

If you can afford it now by a sim only deal and then buy the phone.

Three have an excellent deal at the moment:

2000 minutes
5000 texts
Unlimited Data inc tethering
£15 a month for a 12 month sim only deal

Yeah let me know what crDroid is like. I'm not too fussed to flash it at the moment, especially as it's quite early in development.

my s3 is in a real mess totally scratched to hell and the screen is smashed to bits.. ive always had insurance just never had time to ring, does anyone know if they will replace the full phone or just the screen?

And through quidco you get a further £58 back , works out £10.16 per month !!! that is an epic deal.

Hi folks,

recently got an S3 this week, quick question, do I need to root to moves apps to sd, or is it just download GL2SD or Apps2SD and voila?

(before anyone moans, I did a Google search and the masses are 50-50 on this subject).

Cheers in advance.

I've never bothered with it to be honest, you should have close to 10gb of internal storage free. I've had over 100 apps installed and never ran out of space.

Cheers! Never been a huge gamer on my phone, but i can save my music to SD and all that jazz which is good. Usually end up carrying 12gb of tunes about with me.

Interesting. Doesnt it always work out cheaper tho, to get a phone on contract?

My contract doesnt end untill Dec 2013. My S2 is a fine little phone, but I am getting a little fidgety. Is it possible to call up your provider and ask them for an upgrade early?

If the answer was yes, not sure if the S4 is worth it over the S3. Im not a power user. Mainly use my phone for text messaging and web browsing as well as a few other things, so dont really need a S4 for just this.

Just concerned not to buy in to a 24month contract and find the handset gets dropped from Samsungs plans for software upgrades. Which technically I shouldnt worry about, as even untill this date, my S2 is in line for an upgrade to Android 4.2.2, so Im guessing the S3 will have just as long a life as well.

I always assumed buying the phone outright was the expensive way of doing it too but I think it actually works out cheaper and certainly more flexible in the long run. I started doing this last year, got a SIM only from three £15 per month (600mins 100texts unlimited data ) but with £82 cash back through quidco. That means my monthly charge is £8.25 per month. Add to that the cost of a new phone unlocked, I bought an S3 for £450. But of course after a year (now for me) you can sell your unlocked phone for about £200, and put it towards a new phone (S4/HTC one in my case). It works out sub £30 per month, with only a 1 year tie in on the contract and the freedom to do what you like with the phone. With that new SIM only Three one plan deal , the equivalent contract for the S4 is £37 per month and tied in for 2 years total cost is £826 after the quidco cash you can get. Going the SIM only route its £450 for the phone plus 2 lots of SIM only at £120 = 690. A saving of £136 with the freedom of the unlocked phone.

So my S3 doesn't like my class 10 sandisk ultra 32gb card, judging by a Google search Samsung only like Samsung cards?

Hi guys

Had battery problems so ended up doing a factory reset to get my s3 charging again, seems to be charging ok now. Only problem I have now is a big crack at the top of my screen, that'll teach me for taking it to Glastonbury with me, paid some dude off ebay to fix it for me once already. :(

Anyway I've lost the jellybean update and im back on 4.1.1 can anyone give me instructions how to go about getting it back or putting wannamlite on it please? It's an orange branded s3. Any advice greatly appreciated. :)
