Has anyone tried replacing the glass on the front of the S3? The mrs has upgraded to an S4, but I would like to sell the S3 and it has a very straight single crack down the screen. The digitiser and lcd is fine.

Yes done a few and it's extremely hard and you have to be so carefull.
The best way is to buy the whole LCD and glass screen but cost about £130.

Hi all,

I am having some issue with bluetooth on my stock S3. I am trying to pair it with my car stereo and it keeps switching on and off and losing connection. At first I thought it was the car so updated all the software hoping that would help but it didn't.

I just tried with my girlfriends iPhone 4s and it paired straight away and never dropped signal.

Is there anything I can do to rectify this? I have checked the settings on the phone and it seems ok (music and phone sharing in the bluetooth settings are ticked).

Is there anything I am missing?

Yes it's a known problem that samsung don't care, there is a free Bluetooth app that fixes it, search the store.

No point me doing that, mazuma will buy it for £177 working or £90 broken - only £87 difference.

After a bit of help plz... anyone got a UK official 4.1.2 Virgin network rom so I can flash my phone back to stock settings, as I just ordered an S4 and really would like to put this back to standard for me other half.

Cheers:D

Having installed it yesterday morning, I can report that the 4.2.2 leaked rom is working flawlessly (using Omega ROM v45 anyway).

I had the 4.2.1 leak running previously, and while it worked for the most part, it did have a few forced crashes, a random boot issue (where it would take minutes to start the mobile and wifi) and random GPS wakelocks (where the GPS would stick on after some program woke to use it, didn't turn it back off and the battery died horribly overnight - probably an app, but I could never find out which, so I just turned Location Services off unless needed).

With 4.2.2 I've had none of those. So far as I can tell, everything is working as it should be. :)

Nice I am tempted to put Wanams 4.2.2 on mine but think I might wait until its official as some have reported poor battery life with 4.2.2

I'm not going to bother with Touchwiz 4.2.2 until JB Domination theme is released for it. Can't stand stock touchwiz :p I'm still rocking CM10.1, it's pretty stable now and battery life is improving with the right kernel.

I'm just hoping they would bring a stable release for CM10.1 Benjo. It was a good rom but I had all sorts of weird issues such as Cell broadcast messages, messaging app being slow when trying to send messages, FC of contacts and the issue with video recording and audio at 1080p. Also battery life was much poorer, and I just don't want to be trying different kernels just yet.

Guess with the release of the 4.2.2 update the nightlies would improve and they can make a stable release with everything working.

Yeah, I saw many complaints. Still, I thought I'd give mine a shot and it only lost 7% battery overnight (my benchmark, CM 9 or 10.0 (I forget), only lost 4% overnight, though the battery was appalling whenever you actually used the phone). Perhaps those with complaints are always more likely to post, hence me thinking I'd post my positive thoughts. :)

I'd have moved to CM10 a long time ago had there been support for 64GB MicroSD cards, but apparently it's a proprietary standard. :(

As far as I'm aware no exFAT support.

Anyways guys, what is the most stable and fully working cm 10.1 based rom at the moment? I'm already getting fed up of the speed of stock s3! This phone really feels limited by the shockingly poor performance of touchwiz.

But no exFAT support?

Nope, as you said it's a proprietary fs (Microsoft).

I'd go with Temaseks that I linked earlier. He merges with CM nightlies 2-3 times a week, and it has cherry pick features/fixes specific to the S3 :)

The thing is his thread states that:

This is similar to a nightly from CM but has some extra goodies baked in. If you can't handle some things possible being broken, please don't use this and then complain to me for building it.

Whic concerns me somewhat. I value system stability and maximum compatibility with apps as well as all the hardware working as it should do. I worry about stuff like camera not recording video/pictures properly or call quality being poor or games not working smoothly due to proprietary nature of the exynos processor.

Edit: I worry about ram too much, does his rom improve on the multitasking eg. Games don't shut down as soon as you exit them like in stock! And web browser reloading all the time?

That statement is on most custom roms to be honest, and it applied more to his earlier builds when CM10 wasn't that reliable on the S3. He's made his a release candidate now, because he considered it to be usable as a daily driver.

Ram usage on mine is about 200mb~ free, although I've hardly ever had issues with things dropping out of memory.

does anyone know whether the email notification thing uses the settings of the default email client?

emails keep getting deleted from server somehow..im wondering if its something to do with teh notification as i just saw the notification for an email pop up but when i check, its already been deleted..

any ideas? :/

Well that was a bust. I flashed latest Temasek's ROM and the stock music player and google music doesn't work. It doesn't even load up by the look of things. Also just read that for some people the calls are not working either. How haphazard are AOSP roms LOL:D

An example from a comment in XDA:

so the clock on my phone just went nuts and had to manually set it, hope it doesn't go nuts again
known issue or am i going mad?
Realistically the best flagship phones to buy to get stock android fully (without stupid random bugs) working is the HTC one and Galaxy S4 (snapdragon version) based on the fact both will have Google editions in America
