***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Anybody know what might be happening here? On a stock rom it's all fine but when I put a custom rom on (Just tried various versions of Wanam so far) I can't make or receive phone calls, it just says "emergency calls only".

I've tried doing a factory reset, clearing the cache etc. the only way I can get it to work again is put a stock rom back on.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated here.

is your imei showing? not the modem bug thing is it that messes with the efs folder?

Fellas advice please, I have a S3 on orange with a cracked screen top and bottom, but still useable.

Should I use a ebay screen repair service before selling it or just sell it on ebay with the cracked screen?

Cheers

Hi guys, I could do with some help.

We have a stock s3 that hasn't been dropped or water damaged, but is having screen issues. When waking the phone using either the power or home buttons, we get a blue screen flash up. Not too much of an issue just annoying. However, in normal use blacks are now grey no matter what we do to the brightness settings and we have horizontal lines as though the gpu is dying/artefacting. At lower brightnesses, the screen or its backlight seems to pulsate which can be nauseating.

I've tried a factory reset and re-installed 4.1.2, but no luck. I've used the LCD test code, but the same symptoms appear no matter whats displayed. Does anyone have any ideas as to whats going on or if it is repairable? Thanks :)

Just change it yourself, it's dead easy and you can get just the glass front for about £6 off ebay.

What's the cheapest way to sim unlock my S3? It's locked to Three and I want to unlock to pass onto my daughter who is on giff-gaff.

Can I flash a rom, unlock via something and then flash an original rom back on?

Wanam has just put up his 4.3 rom, in the processes of putting it on my s3 now. It feels very nice, very slick.

Apparently there's quite a few problems with MJ9 at the moment? People are saying poor battery, random lockups and the phone failing to wake up. I'm going to wait for a minor update :)

You'll need to be rooted first, don't need to flash a rom. After that, you can use Galaxy Sim Unlock. This is the free version that I found floating around on XDA, haven't tried it myself though. Might just be easier to pay your carrier to unlock it :)

I've been using the CM10.2 nightlies for a few weeks and couldnt be happier - everything works no problem, nice and smooth and battery life of approx 36 hours daily useage. :)

Yeah I've been using Temasek's 10.2 for a while now, it's great. The only thing I miss is the Samsung camera.

The S3 is being supported by OmniRom, so I'll switch over to that once a build has been released :)

Just had to perform a hard reset on my GS3 due to uninstalling PREY and locking me out of my phone afterwards
Always wanted to root the phone anyway so I thought this might be a good chance :)

Does anyone know a good site with tutorials as I dont want to just get some random ones on the internet, I want something reliable which has been tested and proven :D

Also, whats the ROM people are using atm?

Thanks

Google root s3 for a rooting guide there are plenty out there all do the same and work the same.

As for a Rom try a few and see what you like. It's the only way to know what works for you.
