***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

I have just redone the flash in my s3 and left the phone alone for a good hour (was watching celeb juice) and it now feels much better and may even be quicker than I was before.

I will say using the updated Cwm recovery makes quite a difference.

For those experiencing wakeup lag with the new 4.3 leak, try installing yank555's latest kernel, reports on xda say that the wakeup lag is gone while using his kernel :)

I can't comment on it myself as I'm running CM but nobody has disagreed with anyone that's stated that it's fixed it.

You'll have to register on his forum to download the file, but I'm sure it'll be worth it :)

(For those that aren't already registered: click the link, register, then come back and click the link again and you'll get the file :))

Just rooted my S3 using this guide
http://www.redmondpie.com/root-galaxy-s3-on-android-4.1.2-how-to-tutorial/

Now I dont know what to do :o
I see you guys talking about CM10.1/2 and Im guessing this is CyanogenMod?
But I cant seem to find it in XDA forums/website.

Also, is it worth backing up everything as I dont have anything to back up after I did the hard reset except for my music/pictures?

OK, so Ive had a go at installing CM using this guide
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_i9300
and I am having trouble with the heimdall flash step :o

Wanam has just released a new version of the Adam Kernel it fixes the wake lock bug and feels much smoother than the original 4.3 kernel.

Apparently there's quite a few problems with MJ9 at the moment? People are saying poor battery, random lockups and the phone failing to wake up. I'm going to wait for a minor update :)

You'll need to be rooted first, don't need to flash a rom. After that, you can use Galaxy Sim Unlock. This is the free version that I found floating around on XDA, haven't tried it myself though. Might just be easier to pay your carrier to unlock it :)

Thank you. Will give it a blast. Did take it to an unlock stall but they couldn't get a code via their normal software route so wanted to send it away to get the firmware flashed or something. Going to give it a go myself. Can't be that difficult!

Just had the over the air update for my s3. The wake up bug is shocking, how this got past testing I don't know. Hope they release a firmware update soon to sort this out. I'm not routed so will have to wait for a samsung update

My S3 was working fine yesterday, but today it no longer wants to connect to my mobile network (3), so I am unable to use 2G or 3G services on my phone. It's not a problem with my local mast and I've spoken to 3 and there are no restrictions on my phone or on my number/contract. I tried my SIM in another phone and it worked, and I tried another SIM in my phone and it doesn't work, so it is definitely the phone.

Does anyone have any idea of what might be wrong? A hardware issue that just randomly occured overnight?

It's a stock phone, not even rooted and I didn't do anything to it between yesterday and today (excluding the usual app updates when I turn it on in the morning).

A question about the official Samsung ROMs.
I am on Three currently. I noticed the unlocked 'btu' update is now available, but not the specific Three ROM.
Would it work OK?
I am assuming so as I already used Cyanogenmod which is not Three specific either.

Chaps, I stupidly installed that abysmal 4.3 update that samsung rolled out yesterday. I would like to go back to 4.1.2 as the phone is pretty unsusable with this wake bug and huge battery drain. I got the MG4 4.1.2 rom downloaded, it is a case of flashing it on odin or do I need to do something else. The baseband is now MJ9 so I'm not entirely sure. Hopefully no problems with EFS and losing IMEI as MG4 is EFS v2?

Would also like to know how to go back to 4.1.2, my s3 is virtually unusable after updating to 4.3
I'm not rooted so not sure how to go about this.
My s3 is a unbranded international btu

I went back to 4.1.2 MG4 using Odin. Had to clear cache and factory reset in recovery after as it kept boot looping but works now lol.:D

Same here, rooted, backed everything up and gone back to 4.1.2.

Also had the boot looping but clear all cache data sorted this.

Didnt really want to root my phone but hey, im out of warranty anyway so needs must.

Can't comment on stock ota versions but with omega and the googly kernel mine is running perfectly. With a full wipe its quick too!
