**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S10 Family Thread ****

The S10 is sold as having "Fast Charge 2.0" - what exactly is this? Are they referring to Quick Charge 2? Or is it their own proprietary charger? If their own, would a Quick Charge charger be of any benefit over a regular charger for the S10?

Realistically I think the Note 10 will have a new generation of camera, I get the impression that Samsung are moving back to the Note line setting the bar for what's possible with hardware, then filtering it into the S line like they used to back in the day.

They didn't mention a lot of things at the presentation which is typical for most OEMs and we only find out about them from the more technical reviewers. IMO the camera section should have taken up a sizeable portion of the presentation, but they mostly focused on HDR10+ and the new display and stuff like that.

We'll see what the camera is like in coming days from the usual reviewers who will put it through its paces. I have no doubt it will be excellent and if night mode uses similar NPU/AI numbers to Pixel 3, then it's going to give a Pixel a good shove because Pixel phones are absolutely terrible at any other camera ares (video and audio recording whereas Samsung flagships are always excellent).

Nobody leaves out big camera improvements at a presentation if they've got something to rave about.

Kudos to the video quality not disputing anything there.

I was expecting some news on this on stage given how behind they currently are this regard, but alas they was more interested in fannying about on stage blowing air up their own ****.

I'm sure they called the improved wireless charging fast charge 2.

OK, do we know what cabled charger it is using? My S7 Edge is using Qualcomm Quick Charge, but seeing as the S10 does not get a Qualcomm chip in the UK Im guessing their wont be using their charger chip? Im considering whether to buy a new Anker 6 port Quick Charge charger or not.

Bright as night, right there!

It will still be QuickCharge compatible as all Samsung flagships have been before the S10. S10 now supports wireless charging at 20W IIRC, so perhaps that's what the fast charge 2.0 is about. Samsung's cabled fast charge has always been called 'Adaptive Fast Charge'.

If you have an S7 charger, then that is QC2.0 and will fast charge the S10 at 9v 1.67A maximum, even if the S10 supports more than that.

If I was looking for a new phone I'd probably pick the S10E, flat screen and fingerprint reader in the power button would be easier to live with.

My current phone is a OP6 from work but last three have been the S7E, N8 and N9. None of the curved screen phones felt comfortable or easy to hold.

You inferred that it probably didn't have the night sight mode because they never demoed it on stage, when we always knew it would. That's what I'm responding to. They don't always show important features on stage as we've seen in the past.

I acknowledged it had a night mode a few posts later, post 191.

And given they didn't mention it on stage makes me question why.

Looking forward to the demo.

That's an intelligent mode, so I very much doubt it will be similar to the Google Night Sight sadly - it will be better than what we currently have on Galaxy phones.

Hoping to see a demo as that may sway my upgrade from an S9.

Trying to cancel my preorder via webchat, only number 126 in the queue.

Ha, all having buyers remorse! Out of interest what did they offer you trading in an S9+ as when I looked could not see it quoted. Not that it matters to me as can't see the point going from S9 to S10 as know I'll wonder what I got for the money. If I break my phone then I'll for sure consider one but at the moment look expensive. As time goes on they may get a little cheaper.

£350 against the new 10 plus.

Was thinking about this today, what can the Note 10 bring to the table after this release. I assume it can only really be the screen or camera they can upgrade and distinguish from the S10+. Fingers crossed for the camera.

Edit - OP updated :).

You didn’t answer my question - what do you want in a mobile phone that isn’t already there?

Either up the innovation to warrant the price or lower the price, that's what I want :)

Rehashing the same thing with a minor bump and adding another £150+ each time is getting boring.

I'm all for the Galaxy Fold, stupidly expensive but at least they're trying something new with it, pushing what hasn't been done before.

Nice! Was it the storage or the ceramic that you wanted

well im on an annual upgrade on EE and it cost me £4 more a month from either going for the 128gig to the 512gb so it was a no brainer. Plus the 512gb comes with a wireless charger also on EE

I did manly want the 512gb though as I record a lot of video. Im interested to see what the diff is between the ceramic and the prism I havent seen anything yet?
