Looking for a bit of advice.

I'm still rocking an old and very much tired iPhone 6 and in desperate need of a new phone. I've narrowed it down to either stick with the iPhone (11 Pro) or get myself the Samsung S20. I'm leaning more towards the S20.

However, what I'm unsure of is the backup options and its the thing thats currently putting me off pulling the trigger. Whats the best backup option to use on an android device, particularly for photos?? I want something that auto-syncs. Thats the beauty of iOS for me, that my photos just sync to the cloud every night and I don't have to worry about losing them.

If I could then view and download said photos to my Mac that would be another great bonus.
 
Google Photos or MS Onedrive would be my choice. Personally I think Google Photos is the best product Google offer, but it's nice to have competition ;)

Samsung offer their own cloud backup solution, but I'd stick to something with either Google or Microsoft depending on who you tend to align with. Both of these can be used on iOS as well, so you can back up now, and use their online tools/interface to see which you prefer.
 
Thanks chaps, seems overwhelming support for Google Photos.

Just seen on Google Photos website that it only supports upto 16MP photos? How does this work for the 64MP telephoto camera on the S20 for example, does it just downscale the image or not upload that one at all? It seems like a bit of a limitation as smart phone manufacturers are chasing big MP numbers these days in order to 'wow' consumers. Has anyone used Amazon Prime Photos? Just read about this, I have Amazon Prime but never used this app nor did I know it existed, apparently allows unlimited photo storage of any resolution.



Also, this seems to be the best deal I've found so far for the S20. I'll never use that much data but nice to have I guess. Just a shame its not 5G data at all.

Google photos has unlimited storage for photos up to a certain size or you can use your account storage for full resolution photos.

So I already have a Spigen Ultra Hybrid next to me.

I then got a Gear4 Piccadilly on the way.

And just pre-ordered a Samsung Clear View in black.

Oops....

I'll only keep one of them, but want to check them out before deciding.

Haven't had a case with a 'flap' for ages. Does it not get in the way flapping around while taking photos with the rear camera?
 
Anyone got order updates from their Samsung pre orders yet? The money has come out for my Ultra on Monday but nothing has changed on the order.
 
Was about to order the S20 from MPD on o2 until I saw this. Really, it looks like the mi 10 demolishes the s20 both from a design and performance perspecitve. Even photos on the mi10 pro are imho better (the s20u has sharper nightshots which you would expect from its zoom capability but other than that, no seeming reason to buy the S20)


The other issue is though of course that the Mi 10 pro isn't actually available right now meanwhile MPD has reasonable deals on the S20
 
Had a very brief go of an S20 in CPW. Like an earlier poster noticed, they had it set to 60 hz - what utter plonkers. Also, the phone was in one of those massive theft-resistant clamps, which covered part of the screen and also made it impossible to get an idea what the phone felt like in hand.

The phone seemed good from what I could see of it, but the presentation wasn't going to do anything to attract customers who might be looking for a new flagship phone but who don't know loads about tech.
