**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S21 Family Thread ****

Night mode can improve the dimly lit indoor images a little, but takes extra seconds to take the picture which is no good for anything moving.
Even taking pictures of the cat when he stays still, using night mode sometimes gives weird blurring effects because he's breathing during the seconds the phone is recording images.

Definitely agree with this.
I still keep hitting the volume up button instead of the power

Lol double-tap the screen to lock. double-tap the screen to wake ? lol

I do, but double tapping to lock only works on the homescreens.
I still think having the buttons in the correct place in the first place would be better though as I also turn off the phone when trying to turn it down sometimes :p
I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually

Had to return my s21 due to overheating.

Personally didn't like the device much either. OnePlus 7 Pro better in most ways.

In what ways? I've just changed from the One Plus 8 Pro to S21U and its a far better device overall. All the 8 Pro offered was a few more customisation items and lighter.

1) Much better screen being 1440p and in my opinion a better colour reproduction and higher brightness. (For samsung, vivid is too saturated and natural is too dull, neither are accurate)
2) No front camera cut out (personally don't use selfie camera much)
3) runs much cooler, never overheats
4) I prefer the look of OnePlus UI over samsung's, especially after the most recent update.
5) Also the camera is in a really annoying place on the S21 compared to 7 Pro, it constantly gets covered by your fingers when holding it in natural positions.

The only pro for me with the samsung was the faster CPU. However my 7 Pro still runs blazingly fast and I never game on the phone apart from playing the odd emulator.

I also didn't find a huge difference in camera quality either, the 7 pro is fine for my needs.

Guess I'll be waiting for the 9 Pro when it comes out.

It'll be interesting to see what Oxygen OS looks like once the final Android 11 version comes out as apparently it's very much like One UI.

I just don't like the way Samsung has an alternate app for everything and keeps asking you to use them. I know you can disable most of it but it's still bulkware that's annoying to work around.

I have it one then OnePlus 8 Pro. From the dialer to the launcher, settings to the notification pull down etc, I like it far more than One UI. Samsung's UI is more cartoon like, Oxygen is more Pixel esque. It's all subjective and personal preference in the end.

There's still far too many apps and processes you can't disable from the app manager. I dislike the stock Samsung gallery app, you can't get rid and its linked to the camera.

Completely agree here, I'm on the beta version and it's way better looking.

Much of this is subjective/personal pref. but I found the screen slightly better on the S21U, it only got warn when doing the initial transfer/setup, I wouldn't say it was overheating, the 8 pro also got warn occasionally. The camera on the S21U is far superior, that was the first thing I noticed when I got the 8 pro which felt like a downgrade. Oneplus UI is good, but not enough to warrant keeping that device.

Nothing special about the S21U main cam from my experience. Quite disappointed in all fairness.

Posted a comparison shot a few posts earlier.

The screen on the S21 is 1080p, so objectively 1440p is going to be better. Viewing experience on the S21 is blurry by comparison if you have good eyesight. The rest might be subjective but I will say that I'm in the design business and I could tell straight away that the colours were more accurate on the OnePlus. I was able to do a side-by-side comparison with my colour calibrated monitor too to confirm this.

Just got mine and Instantly love it.

The only minor thing is with the camera. Is there a way to set it at the full 108mp but also easily switch to the other cameras at a reduced resolution? Currently if you set it to use 108mp it locks it to the main lens and only allows digital zoom and to use the other lenses you have to change the resolution then change lens.

Or am I missing something?

Yep I noticed this. Mildly annoying innit?

Yep, just a little.

There's probably not much difference in it but if I have all those pixels I want to use them! Off work tomorrow so going to go for a wander and test it all out

Just had notification from Samsung my S21 Ultra 512GB Exclusive colour is being delivered tomorrow

Ordered on the 28th January

Great news! I ordered the same day and mine still says being customised.

My son asked me to order him the S21 yesterday and his is being delivered on the 22nd. So again, quite a delay in this day and age of next day 'Prime' service.
