**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S21 Family Thread ****

Yes it is very strange past pre-orders i have had them just over a week lol
Still waiting for my pre-order bits to. Ordered from mobiles.co.uk and my claim was validated on 06/02
05/02 here and nothing yet. I had a scan of their forums and it seems like people a couple days before have started to receive theirs, so hopefully not long now.

I've been using the camera a little inside the house and I'm not blown away by the quality. It's demanding, low light conditions, but my wife's Pixel 2XL blows it away in the same conditions.

I want to do some research on how to get the best out of the multilple lens and try some outside shots tomorrow (I have the day off), but I'll be gutted if a £1000 phone doesn't perform as I'd expect and/or as advertised.

My trade in packs were delivered yesterday.

I've literally just come from a Pixel 2 XL to an S21U and tend to use the camera a lot on my phone.

The Pixel 2XL is damn good, since it has a reasonable sized 12MP sensor and quality lens, with Google's superb image processing, just about every shot comes out well, brilliant noise handling and it's made my normal point and shoot camera redundant.

The S21U is a different proposition, it reminds me of my first Point and Shoot Ultra-zoom camera, they often had smaller sensors (part of increasing zoom range for a given amount of lens) and walking around the house taking the first shots was a bit disappointing and you came to the realisation you have to 'think' about the shots you take, where as a small zoom / fixed focal length is pretty much fire and forget but lacks the flexibility.

Still, the main technical downside of the S21U is all but the Ultra-wide is a smaller sensor, so more noise and the processing (seems difference between Snapdragon/Exynos) isn't as good as I think it could be, so noise / detail aren't quite maximised.

However, having a camera that can go from Ultra-Wide

to 10x optical zoom:

Is quite nice!

My S21U Titanium just got delivered.. exactly 3 weeks after ordering. Want to start playing with it but been awake for 24 hours, need to get some sleep first ha. Love the look and feel of it.

Managed to blag the S21 Ultra deal that done the rounds end of last week with MPD, even if it is with Three, and I had no intenions of upgrading my Note 9 as was happy to move to sim only after my contract ends next month. The deal was just too good to pass up at only £41pm, 100gb 5g data alongside the boosted £150 trade-in bonus and free Samsung Buds live effectively make the deal roughly £27pm all in. Supposedly it was a pricing error that MPD have looked to honour as the plan was meant to be applied to the S20 Ultra and they have switched me to Phantom Silver as they have stock.

Was really quite happy with my Note 9 and only opted for the Ultra as it was only one bar upgrading to another not that can run with S-pen which are great. How have people found the OE Samsung case+S-pen?

That's a great deal

Has everyone who was trading in a device sent theirs back? Still haven't received my trade in pack despite letting them know multiple times.

I got my trade in pack from buying my S21 Ultra within a week or so of the phone. I sent my Nokia 8 back and got an acknowledgement within a few days.

I also got the trade in pack for my son's S21, but we have decided to sell his Oneplus privately, as the trade in value is so low. I emailed them a couple of days ago to ask what would happen if I decide (I had) to not send it in and within a few days they'd actually sent me an invoice for £140, which I've just paid.

So all very quick and efficient. You seem to have fallen through the cracks. :(

I'd use this but you can't manually toggle dark mode. It relies on dark mode being set system side.

Shame

This is by design. Why would you want dark mode on a Web page when the rest of your phone is in light mode? It makes no sense. The toggle is there to disable dark mode while the phone is already in dark mode in case the page rendering is screwed up or indeed just that you prefer reading the pages as they were intended.

Personality I much prefer samsung Internet over chrome. Much more versatile and on these phones, easier on the battery.

Can we talk about keyboards for a moment? What are you all using? I've given the default one a try and am still on it now, it's the best looking and generally works quite well but swiping seems very hit and miss for me. In fact the auto correct suggestions generally seem a bit random (at worst absolutely ridiculous) and it just refuses to remember certain words. It's a shame because otherwise it seems like an excellent keyboard, the iPhone style cursor control is particularly good.

I've tried gboard but it looks ugly on the Samsung. I see SwiftKey is on there as well but I've always had some issues with that too (entering email addresses in particular always used to be a massive ball ache).

I thought the samsung keyboard was pretty good, but I swapped to gboard just because I kept hitting the full stop instead of space.
I think it's just what my fingers are used to after my pixel

I don't think I've yet found a keyboard that I don't do that with. You can change the Samsung keyboard with Good Lock but I haven't got around to it.

That's a great deal

Yeah, was a no-brainer really even though I wasn't really in the market but good on MPD for honouring their deal, I wouldn't have any issue if they didn't. Seems some orders got emailed with details of the error and original price should have been £63pm. Due to arrive tomorrow, just got to decide what case to go for that supports s-pen.

No point until they release the s-pen pro later on in the year. The one they have now is a waste of money. no Bluetooth ect.

Anyone claimed their buds/tag and received these yet. I reclaimed mine and it was validated on 07/02/21 but not had anything back from samsung since. (i know they say 45 days for it to be delivered)

I said about it a few posts back, they seem to be taking an age this time. As I said the previous preorders I have done I had my freebies just over a week of the claim being validated.

I suspect they have had more than usual pre-orders and did not expect the number of people who actually preordered it. Thus the stock of the buds/tag they set aside for the preorder was nowhere near enough. and thus have run out of stock.

Mine was validated on the 1st and out for delivery today.

Anyone else find the volume seems to automatically drop when playing through the speakers sometimes? I've had it happen on YouTube/Spotify/radio apps.
The volume wasn't up overly loud to begin with and any auto volume level stuff is turned off in settings.

There's no notification or any history in the settings of the volume being reduced.

It seems completely random, sometimes I'll turn it back up and it'll be fine for the rest of my viewing/listening and sometimes it'll keep dropping it back down.

What speakers? Bluetooth? It happens to me with my bluetooth earphones.
