**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S21 Family Thread ****

No point until they release the s-pen pro later on in the year. The one they have now is a waste of money. no Bluetooth ect.

Thanks, wasn't aware of this however what are the differences here? Is the pro going to be more functional beyond what the s-pen is used for. I have no idea how it worked or what the NOte 9 version could do as I only really used it for notes and drawing etc. Looks like current s-pen can be picked up on deal at the Rainforest.

Unless you need the ridiculous air gestures and remote camera shutter etc the current s-pen will do just fine.

Does anyone have any tips or an idiots guide for taking pictures with the S21? Every time I take one, unless it's broad daylight, it's blurry or really crappy quality. I see everyone taking these amazing photos at dusk that look amazing and mine look like something taken on the first ever smartphone :(

Bought the ultra in silver today coming in two week with the £400 trade in 15% off s21 ultra 256gb and watch 3 platinum for £225. Looking forward to it. Cya note 10+ 5g.

The best tip from the above, specifically to the S21 Ultra, is:

To maximise quality, you simply stick to the default zooms on the camera such as 0.6x, 1x, 3x and 10x as you retain maximum quality of your images. You can zoom in digitally for yourself later!

The rest is pretty generic.

I've found myself constantly doing this. Which also means coming out of 4x3 108MP mode.

The trouble is that the phone doesn't always use the x3 or x10 lenses in less than optimal light and often chooses to digitally zoom instead due to the differences in aperture.

If they would give access to the zoom lenses in pro mode, you could change the shutter speed, increase ISO etc. to compensate, but they don't give enough control to the user.

I'd really like them to enable raw capture in the auto modes and proper selection of the lenses.

Edit: DXOMark camera review is up and it's not great, but i think they're using an older firmware

I agree with what you're saying. I'm surprised that level of control isn't enabled, especially as whatever sort of processing they're using to analyse a scene and decide on how to picture it is so inconsistent.

I wanted to manually set my shutter speed to get some action shots of my dog, but couldn't work out how to do it. I found a way in their push and slide the shutter button feature to get multiple shots, but it was so temperamental and sometimes recorded a video instead.

I also discovered that dxo report this afternoon and it didn't make good reading, as it reaffirmed my current view of the camera. I just hope they're right in that it could be sorted in firmware updates.

Reading through the comments on various sites and you come across little pearls of wisdom like this.

"I think it is important to mention that the S21 uses a digitally zoomed main camera to shoot portraits, instead of the 3x optical zoom, which seems a bad choice."

Weren't there suggestions it wasn't just the battery and performance that differed between the Exynos and SD, but also the ISP? Not sure it's that but I've seen a lot of reviews/people say the camera is quite good this year.

Anyone else find the volume seems to automatically drop when playing through the speakers sometimes? I've had it happen on YouTube/Spotify/radio apps.
The volume wasn't up overly loud to begin with and any auto volume level stuff is turned off in settings.

There's no notification or any history in the settings of the volume being reduced.

It seems completely random, sometimes I'll turn it back up and it'll be fine for the rest of my viewing/listening and sometimes it'll keep dropping it back down.

I missed this, but there was one occasion maybe a week or two ago where I was playing music from the s21u to my amp via Bluetooth and I noticed that it was much quieter than normal. Once I restarted the phone it was back to normal.
