**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S21 Family Thread ****

Sadly will be sending my S21 ultra back as I've got around 13 dead pixels on screen now. Had it less than 3 weeks.

I say dead I can see some pulsating.

Yeah, I think it's a Vodafone thing from what I've read.
Odd as bought direct from Samsung, didn't think a network would have any influence over phone icons.

Does anyone use Android Auto with their S21's? I have the ultra and got a new car last month that is Android Auto compatible. It is just really laggy and the music starts to stutter after a while. I tried it with a OnePlus 7T I had lying around and that functions perfectly.

It works without major issues in my Jaaaag.

I have an iPhone 12 which I'm fairly happy with, but I'm becoming increasingly irritated by Apple shoehorning woke stuff and the latest fashionable causes into my news feeds and paid subscriptions (e.g. Fitness+ classes 'celebrating' everything woke that's in the news when I just want to get fit). To some this might be a small thing, but I don't like being lectured by mega corporations on how I should think, so it's making me vaguely consider an S21 Ultra. However, I know that Samsung is also a mega corporation, so would hate to make the switch and then find loads of rainbow logos inserted into the Samsung store and so on. How is the corporate preaching over here in Samsungland?

TBH here I don't think many people actually use the Samsung news feed. Most use the google one and it is far superior. and with that is a lot of customization when you first set it up and after. you pick the topics you want to get news articles on it. Now the Samsung members app. does offer various "members benefits" but I have never found it in your face.
I guess its a personal thing

I think having a problem with some "woke" "rainbow logos" appearing in apps isn't anything to do with the phone... ;)

Anyone looking to buy a S21 range phone check out HUKD, there's a crazy offer on at the moment at Samsung.com

I just ordered a S21+ for the girlfriend for effectively £560 (from £999) with free Bud Lives. Used an old S7 Edge with a cracked screen that I have not turned on in about 3 years.. as trade in to get £150 off. Then 20% discount code. Then will get £120 cashback. Ordered the Buds from Amazon for £90, which then means the cashback from Samsung goes up to £210! So the Buds are free.

You can get more off depending on what phone you trade in. Even ANY old Android in good condition gives you £200..

The code is in this HUKD thread:
https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/ga...android-phone-code-ps23920-at-samsung-3738710

However, the Samsung phone trade-in is dicey. Check some of the comments on there.

The value is different in the Ts and Cs document they link to,and also there is a get-out clause where their phone recycler can charge an extra £100 when they feel like it. There are also horror stories of Samsung not honouring the full value of the trade-ins by making up excuses.

I was tempted but don't want Samsung to try a fast one where they can charge you more after the fact for "reasons" which they are allowed to,under the Ts and Cs.

So if it all works out its a bargain, but it does seem dependent on what work experience kid the recycler is using that day.

I do trade ins, it's no problem, they are trying to cover themselves from chancers who might send in something that doesn't meet the requirements of trade-in, if you meet requirements you won't have an issue, I have sent in broken phones and working phones it has been fine.

I have done them with other companies(cashback too),but Samsung seems really hit and miss.

Apparently there is this whole stuff that happened in 2019,when their third party partners lied throught their teeth about what people sent in:
https://www.androidpolice.com/2019/...y-s10-trade-ins-leaving-customers-frustrated/

I checked in this thread, and saw one or two here got caught out back then too.

Their CS is clueless going from HUKD.On their own trade-in website they have a linked to a document which lists trade-in values(current for June 2021):
https://images.samsung.com/is/conte...E-TRADE-IN-PROGRAMME-TERMS-AND-CONDITIONS.pdf

The trade-in values do not match the ones calculated before checkout(and the document talks about a £100 surcharge their partner MTR can make). Broken phones are worth £0. Many slightly older Huawei and Samsung phones are worth £0. However,in the HUKD threads their pre-checkout value is £150. Apparently people have tried querying this with their CS,and the CS don't even acknowledge the document exists.

The 3rd party phone recycler they use is not that honest at all:
https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5...-old-samsung-for-a-shiny-new-s20/td-p/1607163
https://www.hotukdeals.com/discussions/samsung-trade-in-not-honouring-3592028
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6252340/samsung-trade-in

MTR seem to like making up excuses about screen burn defects, when the pictures they send back don't support it.There have been instances where people have said the value of a newish phone with a "defect" is less than the value they offer for a broken phone, and have been presented with a bill from MTR.When they complained or left a negative review,Samsung has stepped in and refunded the difference.

Using the HUKD thread if all the different cashback offers pay up nd the 20% off and £350 trade in for my S9+ ive potentially got the S21 ultra for £462 with an option to get some free buds live which could be easily sold for £40+.

Just gutted I ordered the Phantom Titanium. Ive since watched a few YouTube vids and wish i had ordered the Silver.
