**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S22 Family Thread ****

On here?
P.s. sorry to interrupt the normal thread lol

Also how does fold 4 compare generally?

Nah, will be over at AVforums.

Fold is quite different to S22 very much depends on your use case. I had a Fold 2 before the S22 so knew what to expect. I like the new wider front display (but still feels cramped compared to normal phones) and better battery because of the more efficient SnapDragon SOC on the Fold. I don't use the camera or S-pen, I use my phone to mainly consume media so made sense to me to make the switch back. Nothing beats browsing websites in desktop view and watching YouTube Live with both live chat and comments visible.

is it the ultra youve got?

thats 1 thing that not pusing me to the fold yet, having to type on such narrow phone as dont always want to be opening it up all the time just for a quick message. Prbably start watching a movie :D

One UI 5 with Android 13 is accepting registrations for you beta testers just now, I'm giving it a try because I had no major issues with the last beta software other than NFC payments, which I very rarely use (but I can still use my watch for that).

Go to Samsung members app if you're interested, it comes in at just over 2.5gb!

Yeah, Ultra.

The funny thing is videos are bigger on the S22U than Fold because of the screen ratio.

On it, thanks for the heads up :)

Remember, you can't use Google Pay as that will only work on an official non BETA OS. Samsung Pay works perfectly however.

Also with the recent leaked news from Ice Universe that the S23 Ultra will not have an upgraded camera over the S22 Ultra, I think I will stick with the S22 Ultra for an extra year and see what the S24 offers lol. Was thinking they might have put the all new 200MP sensor in the S23 Ultra but seems not.

Whats the max DL speed people are getting over wifi... Seems mine tops at exactly 450
Totally depends on your WiFi router and speed I guess but for me on VM Giga1, Mine connected to the AC68U router at 585Mbps and gets a WAN speed on that of 466Mbps which is about expected for WiFi connecting at 585. My internet is 1Gbit.

So many factors with Wifi, I've not had a wifi handheld device do much over 700 yet on wifi6, only my desktop and laptop seem to manage 1Gb, I think that is because they support 160Mhz channels whereas the handhelds don't.

Will be interesting to see if the Fold is any different with a Snapdragon tomorrow but really what could handheld devices need that speed for, they don't have storage etc for big downloads and there's not a great deal you can do on them if you did, I used to process the odd 4 k clip on mine from action cams at events for a quick Youtube upload but the cams couldn't even send files anywhere near that speed on Wifi, it was always a cabled affair.

Same Virgin 1 gig. But with Ubiquiti wifi setup.
Ac-pro
U6-Mesh
AC-HD
Not complaining, Just wondering if there was a hard limit..
I'll investigate my network/ ask silly questions in the ubiquiti thread

You will probably need a WiFi 6 WiFi network in order to get more really. Mine is just Wireless AC on the 5GHz band manually fixed at at 80MHz for max bandwidth.

Just tested my fold and it is doing 900 so not not quite the full 1Gb of my connection but definitely faster than my old note 10+ which only just scraped over 700Mb on Wifi6, so you need the hardware both sides of the chain, Some servers are better than others so always worth trying another server too.

If you look at the connections speeds to the AP it will give you an indicator as to what speed you can get, the fold and I assume the S22U will likely connect to a Wifi6 AP at1.9-2.4G my Note 10 is typically 865 - 1.2, so the Fold is doubling, likely doing 160Mhz I guess.

160MHZ channels on AC is fine for maxing out 1Gb as my laptop has that and is the reason I use 160Mhz for faster transfers to and from NAS.

5G speeds are up too, these are hitting 800Mb, still not quite as fast as an Iphone, boo.

EDIT - moved rooms and 5G is pulling bandwidth greater than my fixed line >1Gb :D

Samsung are due to release a new camera update that adds a bunch more features as well as further improve camera quality in various modes, especially low light. We knew before release the S22 camera would be steadily improved as that happened with the S20 and S21, seems this trend will stick by which is nice to see.

I hope they hurry up and do this.

Just got a 900mb update to my S22U...One UI 5 Beta is now open as well which is Android 13 in the Samsung Members app but beware before you sign up it breaks Google Pay and in previous One UI beta's broke my banking app as well so I'll be avoiding this time.

Google Pay is a given since Gpay only works on offocial release OS builds, always been the way. Banking apps depends on your bank, for me it's never been a problem on Santander, Amex, Barclays, PayPal.

Samsung Pay+ is better than Google Pay anyways so I recommend people switch to it. I've been long using both and Samsung's Pay+ with Curve integration is just better and supports all cards / banks.
