**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S22 Family Thread ****

Mines showing rather good battery life, don't play games but in general use Youtube etc , browsing, social etc Showing 5 hrs of SOT with 50% battery left. Not pushed it hard with camera use etc

I have tuned it quite a bit, debloated , run fhd+, turned off a lot of background activity of privacy sipping apps (facebook etc) plus restricted several apps

Sent my S22 Ultra back today, yet again Samsung/Android cannot fix the delayed gmail notifications issue.

Set the S22 up, side by side with iPhone, screens both off, sent email to gmail, iPhone/mba/iPad/watch all got the email instantly, 8 mins later still no email on the S22, woke the screen, no email, had to enter PIN number and finally gmail received the alert.

Did this 5 times and same issue. S21 had the same issue, il try again with S23. and before someone says run an adb command or use GCM app to fix alerts, nope. its 2022 and paid £1300 for a phone and it should work out of the box.

hey ho!

Yup, you probably have to set it to keep open, I have to do this for notifications from my smart watch.

I'm not very impressed with the Samsung Silicone case and I'll be sending it back. It's not very well designed at all. The S Pen is very difficult to remove, as the case material is too thick around the S Pen opening.

Any other suggestions? Spigen Neo Hybrid as mentioned last page is a contender. Any others?

Think I've had every galaxy from the s7 onwards, and while it may have been a more regular occurance in the early days I've not seen it for years.

If this was a widespread problem there would be massive out cry. More likely related to something in your setup or a conflicting app.
I'd be surprised if you take the phone out the box, sign in to nothing else and get this problem.

It simply isn't the normal android, Samsung or Gmail experience.

Your not using imap or pop3 are you? We're talking straight up gmail address?

Depending on the aesthetics you're after (I have both the otterbox defender case and Torras military shockproof case. One being large, bulkier and offers significant protection with fantastic grip, the other being slim, sleek and offers great protection too...I can highly recommend both aswell as great S Pen accessibility.

That's a fair comment, my non gmail address has a massive latency, something like 30 odd mins whereas gmail is instant, I actually have to go on a web browser and force a check under settings for pop if I am waiting for something, but typically I don't sync emails as it'd be going on all day, I'd have not battery left in a few hours :D I just do it manually when I want to rather than be distracted by it.

That's why I ask, there are algorithms in play that only check the account depending how busy it is if using imap/pop. Best way if you have your own domain is to forward the email directly to your Gmail address in your domain settings and its near instant delivery

Cool cheers, I'll take a look at those!

So what you guys got your camera settings set to -
9:16

3:4

3:4 (108MP)

I have mine set to 9:16 because the other setting put black bars down the side of the pictures.

So what's your setting & why?

Any chance you can share details on the specifics of the debloating please?

Word of warning to those that won't be using a case, the anodising on the back of the S22 Ultra get's scuffed extremely easily. I had mine out the case for less than 24hrs and was careful with it but it's picked up scuffs, no idea how. I'm 100% not fussed about it of course but I can't see this phone looking pristine for very long with no case.

This used to happen on my note 10/20 ended up just being a settings issue.

I knew this would happen and mentioned it earlier, as I saw demo units with scratches. The shiny finish on the frame isn't a good idea for durability, brushed would be my preference.
