*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

Too deep into the Google ecosystem to switch platform here! I know a lot of Google apps are available in iOS but I don't want any of the iOS apps interfering with my day to day workflow (iTunes, for example).

Was the stuttering issue on Android (in the past) due to some deep rooted kernel issue? And iOS prioritises touch input/rendering? It really is a thing of the past, not including lower spec Android phones. iOS does seem to be more fluid but I think that's just due to the type of animation they use.

That and that iOS is on fixed hardware so only has one job to do on one spec whereas Android has to anticipate every spec from every vendor.

GPU acceleration has helped a lot, Correct me if I'm wrong but the S2 was the first Android phone to have it? Project Butter has helped a lot though.

Yeah the GS 3 is definitely superb for comfort in the hand especially considering the size. No reason why they can't keep the ergonomic curves but use a better finished plastic and improve the overall design though! :p

My one S is extremely fast and smooth, no lag or slowdown at all, only place I get some lag, is with the google play store when scrolling through the app list. The beauty of android as well, is that you change the animation speed or animation so things are either snappier or smoother. The only android phone, which has truly beat the one S (from my experience) when it comes to overall performance is the nexus 4. iphones are very smooth, but I don't find them that much, if any better at all, certainly not enough to worry about imo anyway.

Plus considering all the different android phones out there with different hardware (not to mention being more demanding than iOS in the sense there is more going on, multi-tasking etc.), I would say that google and the OEM manufacturers have done a pretty damn good job.

Before the GS 2, android phones were nowhere as smooth throughout but since the GS 2 and now jellybean, it is no longer an issue.

2GB RAM does make a difference especially if you like to browse with lots of tabs opened, although it isn't really "required/needed" for a fast/smooth phone, more of a "luxury" really.

I don't know what it is that makes the iPhone smoother/more fluid, but I wish Google would copy it!

I get what you mean as others have said GPU acceleration and Project Butter have made Android much more competitive in this department. Perhaps its the skins manufacturers put on top? Think I have seen lag on a GS3 as often as an iP4S/5 which is almost never.

It's kinda like the console vs pc thing.

Due to consoles/iphones having uniform specs, it's easier to get every little bit of performance out of the hardware.

Android/pc needs to account for the plethora of system differences.

Look at ios then look at android. IOS is bland, simple and plain. Android is the opposite.

There might be a slight performance difference but too call it laggy would be spouting bs.

+1 Android may have been "slow and stuttery" a while back but the latest iteration easily competes with ios.

All of the Android devices that I have owned of late which run ICS never suffered from being "slow and stuttery"

I demand high performance from my smart phone and I would never put up with any perceived lagging on it.

Got a note 2 myself tried brother in laws IP5 don't see the lag you are getting . You must have the 0.001% population superhuman eyes or some kind of a placebo effect apple eyes :p:p lol.

Never mind the pointless iOS comparison, what we really want to know is will the G4 be rectangular or be like the G3?

No one knows except Samsung and we won't find out until the launch.

Although if you look earlier in the thread some pictures of supposed S4 cases have been leaked and the design is more square than rounded.

The Samsung SGSII is still the most perfectly sized phone I've ever had. It's so annoying that they keep getting bigger and bigger now. :(

I was just about to buy a gs2 when the Note came out I bought a Note for the screen having done so I fully understand why screens keep getting bigger, no real world problems with the size and a huge increase in enjoyment of the device.

Sorry, I just don't think it does. But I'd really like it if it did because then it'd be a viable alternative for me. Windows Phone gets the closest to iOS at the minute in my experience.

i think deep inside you just dont want to admit it :) or you simply looked for things to not like.. you know when you love something and then theres another thing that comes and its just as good if not better and you try to find some random flaws with it so you can kinda stick with what you have:)

personally my now OLD s2 is buttery smooth.
