*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

The Qualcomm S4 600 chipset is no slouch and I rather have that than the Exynos Octa core.

I suspect that Samsung will repeat the same thing as they did with the S3, release the Octa Core for Europe and a Qualcomm S4 600 in the US.

The screenshots that JBod posted of the revamped Touchwiz UI don't look too bad, I really wish that Samsung would move away from the green status icons and cartoon like icons.

For example that new email icon is awful, why use an international mail envelope to represent email?

I don't get it!

I knew there was something! That too!

Thanks Nexus I can always rely on you! :p

:p :D

That is all that I want but unfortunately as has already pretty much been confirmed, they aren't going to change any of that  The design "could" be a bit better but it will have to be a huge improvement in order to tide me away from the "one". If it is just a spec bump and more complete package and everything important to me i.e. battery, camera quality etc. are more or less the same as the one or not much better at all, then HTC will win me over again purely for sense (the browser, zoe, camera UI/app, gallery, unified feel throughout), front stereo speakers, design/material and feel in the hand (as well as being smaller)

As said before, I couldn't give a toss about CPU/GPU performance as every android device from the last year is plenty for carrying out every task and will be for at least another 2 years (aside from possibly games, which I don't even really play too much of anyway), just pushing out the hardware for the epeen benchmark figures/marketing now, no other reason, just like the way they are bumping the MP up each time.

BTW regarding the marketing stuff, phonearena posted an article the other day

http://www.phonearena.com/news/Mark...-is-the-mind-boggling-amount-it-spent_id40543

“Samsung’s focus on marketing was the main reason the company was so successful last year,” an anonymous source inside Samsung said.

“With its strategic Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note smartphones selling tens of millions, the company doesn’t care too much about allocating a gigantic marketing budget," the Samsung source added.

If all Samsung can muster design wise is this then I'll be thoroughly disappointed.

Yes - its a RENDER

I need a properly new design with proper style and class and not a botoxed S3.

The front looks all right (the top part with the ear piece grill is awful looking though), corners are still too curvy. Bezel free on the sides would be fantastic! Although could encounter some problems with accidentally hitting the screen.....

Back looks terrible :(

I really hope they put the speakers on the front but very much doubt it if the case leaks are anything to go by :(

My favourite render without a doubt is this:

Looks gorgeous and far better than the one in terms of the front design

Now that is a smart looking phone

they have a design language, it's on the s3, note 2 and the recent tabs, its already been widly reported the s4 carries on the design language from the tab 8 so seriously, stop moaning about something that IS going to be plastic IS going to be curvy and IS going to sell by the absolute truckload!

And if the software is your issue I've got news for you, there will be an AOSP ROM available within days or certainly weeks so by the time the thing is freely available and the launch buzz has died a little bringing any up front charges down to next to or actually nothing you'll be able to ditch touchwiz anyway.

I'd gamble on it being a lot closer to the image kona786 posted to the galaxy s1 rehash above.

Why must it be referred to as "moaning" if people don't like something , especially when it is pretty much the general consensus that the majority of people don't think the glossy brushed plastic and their design is good and that there is huge room for improvement. It is a mobile sub forum for discussion, people will list what they want to see and what they don't want, regardless of what it will really be like.... and plus nothing has been officially confirmed yet so Samsung "could" surprise us (doubt it though), after all they are probably the ones behind some of these leaks to build the hype up, we will not know for sure until the 14th March

Even if the design is improved slightly it won't really change my mind about the phone itself as personally I don't find the galaxy phones as "good" as what most people/review sites make them out to be (except the gs 2) anyway and so would most likely still go for the one or whatever else comes out instead. The only thing, which would really sway me over is the 1080P SAMOLED screen.

As for flashing AOSP etc. not everyone wants to do that, I most certainly don't (especially when exynos is hard to work with since Samsung don't release the necessary stuff) want to spend time encountering annoying niggles like slow downs, battery drain every now and then and having to reboot to fix a problem etc. especially if I am out and about without access to a computer.... Sure you can install 3rd party apps but again, I rather not have to and I like for the phone to feel more unified throughout. Had my one S pretty much stock android but the lack of unified feel annoyed me so much that I went back to using the stock sense apps.

I can't see it being any different to the GS 3 at all, just more rectangle with less bezel. As I said before, they have become like apple in so many ways now so won't change their software and phone design.

You can follow the design language while improving on it. Hopefully this is what will happen.

I mean the current S3 looks like it's made of aluminium... so why not make it so. :p :(

Doing an Apple seems to be the ticket to success these days.

Realistically what can be special?? It's not like phones are slow and need more power is it now? So what can they do to improve it??

Samsungs basic software like the dialer, calculator, etc is really nice... Just use a different launcher (Nova or GO) and it's perfect :)

I hate all of their apps :p (camera and gallery is fine)

Calendar looks dreadful, looks like an old mans app :p :o

But the main thing that I don't like about them, is that there is no unified feel across the apps and they all just feel cluttered/disorganised and then the colour scheme I do not like at all!
