Plastic is here to stay and I'm cool with it :)

Yup, we aren't going to really notice a huge difference in terms of hardware except for the screen really and possibly the camera (if Samsung decide to do something other than just bumping the MP number up), GS 3 is already plenty fast for everything with great audio quality and a great camera etc. 2GB RAM will be noticeable for some people, more so the ones that love to browse with lots of tabs opened, but for the majority, I don't think many will notice the benefits of it....

As said, the only things they really need to work on is the design of the phone and the software UI/apps (by the looks of it etc. doubt that will happen though :()

Would have loved for them to place the speakers on the front like the HTC one, if that case leak from mobile fun is anything to go by, then it will be on the back :(

Hopefully it will be better calibrated, especially the whites. Much prefer my one S SAMOLED screen to the GS 3 in terms of colours & whites.

Wonder how much more efficient it will be when it comes to bright/white colours compared to a LCD screen??? Whites etc. rape AMOLED based screen big time :(

There's no doubt that the specs will be great, but the GSIV needs to have a killer design if it wants to win me over. This means a departure from its current design language, which is unlikely, but you never know...

So are you saying you'd buy an inferior device if the consensus is it looks better than the S4?

Is that such a shocking thing to do?

If you're the sort of person who uses your phone as a fashion accessory to impress your friends and improve your social standing no... i guess it isnt.

For the people who care more how the phone feels to use and what it actually does for you then yeah.. its pretty weird.

People do it all the time though. From their house and car down to the tomatoes they buy in the supermarket.

depending on how inferior the other device is.

That's the key

Not at all, it wasn't an attack question, merely getting confirmation of intent to see whether the poster was letting off steam about design when in fact they'd buy the "ugly" phone or it was genuine exasperation at a design direction that was going to convert into lost sales, that's the kind of stuff that interests me I've zero personal concerns what another person buys, lol I truly cgaf.

I share the views on the design direction but would purchase anyway because of what's under the hood, having been persuaded of the ergonomic advantages by my son and his S3 and my own shock at how sharp the XZ is.

We're at the stage in smartphone evolution where most flagships from the key Android manufacturers are good enough.

At the moment, I've got my eye on the HTC One and Xperia Z. I don't see either as being 'inferior' to anything Samsung will throw out next week. Yes, it makes sense to wait, but does anyone really expect that the GSIV will be a step-change over the HO or XZ? I doubt it very much.

Having seen the XZ and what I know of the HO, I think the XZ will be inferior as a device but have killer app features waterproof and potentially a shatterproof screen, the HO no idea how it Will be perceived, obviously the S4 is an unknown quantity but if it is widely regarded as only as little bit superior it will massively out sell the others having passed the tipping point, just like they did with the S3, their opponents seem to be stupid in not appreciating this and spending a few pence per unit more for that little edge.
