*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

Judging by the leaks there's gonna be a lot of disappointed people out there, I wasn't really after just a bigger s3 to be honest.

it wont be just a bigger s3? what are you expecting them to do?

the specs will meet/exceed the current top phones + new software features

the design will be similar to s3 but that is the language they are speaking now.. and that is what GALAXY is recognized for, they clearly want their design to be different to other phones and it is :) when you see an s3 you know it is an s3 not something else..

like s2 was similar to iphone 4

It will be a mixed bag of opinions. I don't think anyone will be disappointed with the specs., however, I think that a lot will be disappointed with the design and perhaps the software side of things in terms of the design/UI too but be impressed with the new eye addition software and whatever else they have up their sleeve.

Reading through most of the comments on the news articles for all the GS 4 leaks/rumours, the design seems to be the main thing that a lot of people want to change.

Can't wait to see how cheesy and cringe worthy the presentation show will be! :D Last one was embarrassing to watch :p :o

This is exactly how it went with the gs3 release/announcement. People weren't 100% sure on the design, and for some even the specs were a bit of a let down. To be honest, I'd have been happy for the design to be less curved, and a little more square like the gs2. Also, the specs don't seem anything special or ground breaking.

Yeah when the specs were announced for the GS 3, every one (including me!) seemed let down big time as it wasn't as ground breaking as what we thought it would be especially after the GS 2 VS sensation, ridiculous amount of secrecy and hype etc. but come to the reviews, it seemed like a very nice upgrade overall, it just wasn't leaps and bounds ahead of the competition. The pentile screen threw a lot of people of too as we were expecting it to be RGB given the GS 2 etc.

The biggest disappointment by far was the colour choices, especially the blue as it was very blue........

True, the only thing, which I am curious about the most for this phone regarding hardware, is the battery life and camera, nothing else really.

Correct me if I'm proved wrong, but I fear all its going to be is another spec bump. Nothing new will be bought to the table. Not really sure what I was expecting really. :p Phone tech seems to have just planed off at the moment.

well if the leak is anything to go by just by looking at the sensor of the camera i gotta say it should be GOOD :)

design wise(if the leak is anything to go by) it is an improvement over s3, plus colour choice is better too(White/black)

and most features will be software related kinda like it was with s3, you know good up to date hardware with some nice bits to make it standout

which is all samsung needs really, make it as good as the rest and lose the stupid mistakes that everyone else seems to make

stock
screens
etc..

Yeah, we have pretty much come to the end of the bridge for phone tech. now and need something really unique/cool/useful like the foldable screen tech. (next year hopefully!) or a battery that can literally last for a week! :p

The only things that they can always continue to improve are:

- battery life
- camera overall especially in low lit/dark conditions (photos in bright/good lighting conditions are pretty much at their best), quality won't get much better until they can cut the sensor sizes down by a good chunk
- design
- software

1080P screen is superb but now we are at the stopping point for screens overall.

All the other stuff, we won't see real world benefits upon the current lot of phones i.e. better CPU/GPU, audio quality is superb already etc.

They will need to have a unique/stand out feature as the "one" has the TV remote control (actually looks pretty cool/useful surprisingly)/front dual stereo speakers and the Z is water proof. Would love to see true "wireless charging", although still think it is too early as the current wireless charging/pads don't seem to be that good, supposedly take forever to charge.

Indeed it will be but not for a good while yet, they have to be able to fit the tech. into the phones first :p

Also, not sure if I would be "that fussed" on it, largely due to it impacting the battery life (if things don't progress much that is and the way things have been going lately it doesn't seem like will see "EPIC" battery life for a good while yet :()

Samsung Galaxy S 4 revealed in leaked images

Less than 24 hours away from Samsung’s next Galaxy S unveiling, detailed images have leaked on Chinese site IT168 that look exactly like yesterday’s purported video of the device. The pictures show that the eight-core phone will measure 7.7 millimeters thick and weigh in at 138g, with a 4.99-inch 1080p display.

The description confirms reports that the device will have a 13-megapixel camera, a significant jump from the Galaxy S III'S 8-megapixel resolution. And as rumored, the processor is labeled as a 1.8GHz Exynos 5410, the first Samsung chip to use ARM's new big.LITTLE architecture, which couples faster A15 cores with low-power A7 cores to optimize for both performance and battery life. The CPU is said to be coupled with a 533Mhz PowerVR SGX 544MP3 GPU, confirmed by Imagination, along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage, expandable with a Micro SD card. AppleInsider points out that the GPU is mostly identical to what Apple is using in the iPhone 5 but running at a higher clock speed (533MHz compared to 350MHz), representing a significant shift for Samsung, away from ARM's Mali GPUs.
