*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

LG just suck big time. They're like an annoying little brother who wants to get in on the act and be just like their older sibling. If their hardware didn't suck and their software updates weren't still stuck on Gingerbread  consumers would buy their phones.

Put a gun to my head and I still wouldn't buy a LG phone unless it was a Nexus.

In regards to the design of the S4 I still wouldn't put any money on the final design looking like a S3 or anything that has been released prior to the launch event. Remember last year Samsung has quite a few prototypes floating about and any one of these leaks could and most likely be these prototypes.

Less than 12 hours to go...we should know soon :)

Agreed on LG, I'm not a fan of them at all. The phones are usually quite meh and the software situation is a disaster.

hardware is bang on, software don't know but this is as close to a note 2 as you can get from other manufacturer.

Hmm, I "quite" like that, the new pattern look is 1 billion times better looking than the awful brushed look on the GS 3 and less rounded corners, thank god.

Now in order to really win me over, lets hope touchwiz has improved for the colour scheme/UI and they have introduced a load of nice camera features etc. :D

Also, 138g?!

LG use superb hardware these days and their software isn't bad, it is just their awful support and then things like lack of marketing/advertising don't help at all.

I'm very interested in how this new camera is... i guess it could very well be the same unit from inside the Xperia Z right? I was under the impression the S III used a Sony unit too.

Either way, I really look forward to the comparisons between the SGS IV and the HTC One. :)

Don't think i could go back to LG after getting my fingers burnt with their supposed "iPhone killer" the LG Arena (KM900). Now in fairness it wasn't Android, it had some custom LG OS they had invented but basically it had no apps, none whatsoever so you were stuck with whatever features came with it (most of which were novel but not practical). I'd come from a Nokia N95 and was used to being able to get apps by then (remeber those Symbian download sites? I had TomTom on my N95 it was brilliant).

I then broke the Arena after only four months when I slammed it down on a table and the front screen smashed into a million pieces (the irony being I was angry because of call I'd just had to make to Orange customer services).

I think quite a few of the other manufacturers use Sony sensors, the difference being they usually get better IQ out of it. I guess that suggests their imaging software (plus other aspects) does a better job. Baffles me how Sony haven't addressed this when they have made decent camera phones in the past and still make decent cameras now.

I bet you initial reviews compare the GS4's camera to random competition like the iP4S, GS3 and Oppo :p

I hail the first review that does a decent job and does a show down between the GS4, XZ & One!

It's interesting to see how so called 'fanactical' Samsung launch events have become now.

Samsung are now the primary Apple contender, and imo will in a few years e even bigger... sowe need to get used to these launch events. I think the main difference between the two though is that Samsung actually deliver something innovative and worth the hype!

Why oh why dont Samsung make a phone with a PURE ANDROID experience instead of the Touchwise rubbish :(

If they did it would be the best selling phone on the market!

Anyway, see what tonight brings...

God touchwiz looks like it has got even worse :o :( Dropped the black backgrounds for white backgrounds..........

Wonder if they have tinkered with other things when there was no need to i.e. Multi-tasking window etc.

What possible reason could you have for changing the theme from black to white on an AMOLED screen?!?!

Still, you can change a lot of it by default.

clearly the battery life was so epic with black bg they thought it is worth changing to a white one so it matches the current top phones... :o

Unfortunately, it already is the best (or 2nd best, not sure if the iphone 5 has surpassed it now???) selling phone on the market :( :p

Looks like htc aren't the only ones to make silly/stupid mistakes/tinker for no reason :p :o

Very true and without having to root, either way it is annoying having to do so :( Doesn't look like they have improved the unified feel throughout either *sigh* Just can't beat motorola's and HTC's skin for unified apps etc. Main reason I dropped the stock android look.

Well, this is how you get your phone to look more or less like stock android without rooting:

stock android keyboard
stock Alarm clock
Stock SMS app
Dialer with this theme
Stock calendar
stock camera & Gallery
Nova launcher prime with the built in stock android icons
Lock screen (can get the stock lock screen theme/UI)
Stock (CM10) calculator
Multi-tasking window

Then there are apps to replace the notification bar i.e. omega, status bar +, super status bar, however, they are a bit buggy!

Problem is I think the stock android looks fine, Doesn't need to be completely unified, But somehow Samsung make it look like a pile of turd.

Yeah stock android looks nice, especially the colour scheme (holo theme) and layout, however, it is wee things like the following, which irritate me :p :o

- different background colours i.e. dialer is holo themed, SMS, calendar, gmail etc. are mostly white, clock is grey, google music is blue

- the 3 dot menu button is in different places i.e. SMS; on the conversation thread list, it is on the bottom then you enter a conversation, it is now on the top, gmail, maps etc. it is on the bottom, google music, calendar, play etc. it is the top

Samsung just make everything look cartoonish/kiddish, bloat the apps so much that they then feel disorganised and look messy.
