*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

TW has no flow at all.. the colours, icons etc are a mess.. its as if a 5 year old just jumped there and threw a few random buckets of colour on top of it.. overall it is not a bad launcher but the colours.. god.. the colours.. i feel like poking my eyes out :(

Perhaps, "Jeremy Maxwell" is the one behind the touchwiz design?! :D :p

To be fair the framework of TouchWiz is good and it has some nice features. Once you've got your wallpaper setup and your apps there and stuff it's really not such a big issue.

The only big flaw comes if you want to use the default calendar for example and happen to think it looks rubbish.

functionality of it is great :) and it works as it should.. its looks that make no sense.. but then again design is not samsungs strong point is it.. :D

Hang on, so they're releasing an identically styled, even more unmanageable sized phone with a few gimicky features that will not be of much use... why do Samsung insist on trying to be like Apple.

Maybe in this period of limited hardware innovation it's time for 'premium' brands to make an impact? Same OEM internals but better body/software design that isn't restricted to generic conglomerate brand identity?

because it works?

style - all the top companies keep a "feel" of everything they do, porche, apple, samsung, vw etc.. just because HTC or lg change their phones every 15mins doesn't mean you need to fix something that works.

gimicky? we haven't seen the phone yet, we haven't heard of the features yet, we haven't seen the camera, screen etc etc what are you on about.

each company wants to make profits, and apple does that great.. so why not be like apple they are there to get rich not to satisfy your needs.

Samsung are now the primary Apple contender, and imo will in a few years e even bigger... sowe need to get used to these launch events. I think the main difference between the two though is that Samsung actually deliver something innovative and worth the hype!

Isn't that rather a matter of personal opinion?

Nope, it's definitely a matter of opinion!

is it? :) i mean its quite logical to see that apple has not been as innovative as they once were whats so hard to admit?

samsung or android as os in general has been a lot better at it the past years.

Interested to see what Samsung come up with tonight, I think the S IV is the only phone that could sway me from getting the XZ.

because it works?

It doesn't though. It's too big to comfortably use. Most other flagship phones are made of aluminium and so feel more premium.

It's leaked... It's still plastic, still like the GS3, the 1080p screen falls to the law of diminishing returns, the camera will be marginally better, the floating gestures, video pausing and eye scrolling are all gimmicks.

All I see from Samsung are iterative products; S1 --- S2 --- S3. Unless the S4 brings us something innovative that changes the direction of the smartphone market, I suspect the S4 is probably just another iteration of the Galaxy S line of phones.

Dunno the biggest problem for me is still the 5" size.

The strange thing is when phones headed towards 4.7" I was saying "now we'r too big" and now I hear myself saying it again for 5" phones.

However I think this time I mean it, 5" is just too big for me it's just crossed the line into absolutely too big. Guess the majority wins though and it seems everyone wants bigger!

its an obvious fact?

what innovations has apple delivered? :)

I think the whole innovation thing is difficult to quantify, since launching (not innovation but creation) the modern smartphone and tablet markets, Apple have pretty much kept level at the top (from a hardware-software perspective), but haven't pushed the boundaries as they perhaps could. Samsung, Google and co haven't really done anything of note either - if you don't consider Apple's accomplishments to be valid.

Anyway this is extremely subjective and we can derail this thread with it until the end of time, so let's not bother. :p

It does look rather big in the leak videos. More so than the S3 did (obviously because it is bigger, but still!).

Benching aside and probably bar the camera ( maybe ) theres not a jot here that make me switch from my i9305.

Sure it will sell bucketloads but not doing it for me.

name one thing that could literally change the direction of the market?

being to big is a personal thing, if you have girly hands each smartphone will be TOO big as all of them are now 4'7-5' no one makes the tiny 3'5 smartphones these days so you either adopt to it or not.

no only htc is made out of aluminium the rest are made of high grade plastics, kevlar with bits of metal.

there's no confirmation of what it is until samsung has annouced it :) that could be some asian model and i bet you know how much they can differ from the world wide ones.

screen? you should be happy about it not complaining lol, 99% chance that it will be the benchmark for the next row of smartphones.
