*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

If it serves no real purpose and it spanks the battery then I would say its just as lame - however we know that Apple doesn't chase spec's so if they did it then it would be for a specific reason.

Presumably a retina display iPad Mini would have a very high PPI but that would be to maintain the same res as existing iPad apps to avoid fragmentation of the app market which is fair enough.

Lol well not long to wait to see what you say when this comes to pass on a device with a smaller screen but a much higher cost:D

There is a lot more to screen power efficiency than just what res. the screen is.

i.e. the SLCD 3 on the DNA, one is very power efficient despite being 1080P, in fact the battery life on those two phones looks to be better than the one XL.

Just like there is a lot more to battery life than just how big the battery is i.e. CPU chipset, type of battery being used, signal strength etc. and most importantly, software optimisation.

So you agree this is just about spec's and not the end user experience? That's exactly my point.

It looks more or less the same, has a pointlessly high PPI for a screen which will probably look more or less the same and a faster processor to run the same OS as last years model for more or less the same user experience.

You keep going on about this "last year's OS" nonsense but you're still wrong; it's the most current version of Android there is. The S3 shipped with ICS (4.0) and has been/is being updated to 4.1, whereas the S4 has 4.2.2.

If you're going to criticise, get your facts straight first.

the oddest thing here is that he is clearly an apple fanboy and thats cool with me but jeez they even have separate forum for their sheepeness to spread why the heck come to android/w8/bb10 forum and troll ? where's the fun in that.. the fact that he is a rubbish troll is even funnier

Oh the irony.

I think my point is made as no can counter - your Korean masters will reward you with the same phone again next year. :D

what irony? the only thing that im a fanboy of(or more like it suits me better) is android.. i have no preference for maker, samsung simply has ticked all the boxes twice in a row whats the big deal?

:)

To those that own a gs3 or note2 how has it hels up? Does it creak? Is the screen susceptible to burn in that you have noticed?

Owned an S3 from launch no creaks rattles or otherwise signs of poor build quality.

Screen burn, nope but I heard that was only an issue for some people using the S3 as a bedside digital clock and even then with brightness set high.

I still rate the S3 very highly, for me I couldn't have bought better.

s2 here.. end of 2011..

scratches, cracked chrome rim, huge scratch on the main button..

and deep scratches on the sides

dropped it a million times, had no screen protector for months, drop it on the desk etc..

deepest scratch happened a couple of weeks ago when it flew out of my pocket when doing 180 on my bmx and smashed on the concrete..

i abuse it like i would with an expensive HO yet its still going :D
