**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

I'm really impressed with the standby in doze, especially compared to my Nexus 6p. In 8 hours each night i'll lose 2%. My 6p was losing about 6% in comparsion, exactly the same apps etc.

The S7 for me has been the same experience I had when I first got a smart phone, the Samsung Galaxy S, which was a wonderful one. There is so much to this phone and the VR takes it to another level, just like the S did with the standard phone, 6 years ago.

When I check my 6P in the morning it usually doesn't even lose 2%. Sometimes it's still on 100%, though I haven't noticed 100% for a few weeks (not that I check much any more... that wears a bit thin after a while!).

Edit: Note 5 to S7 Edge purely depends on one thing - do you want the Edge screen? Yes there are other improvements, but if you don't like the Edge display then it's not a phone you'll enjoy using.

Other than the SD card slot you're going to struggle to separate them in an otherwise blind test.

The only other real difference is water resistance - I think everything else is a small incremental step. Swapping a Note 5 for an S7 Edge is nuts if you're not going to truly benefit from one of those things, unless you can flog your Note 5 to some unsuspecting bugger to pay for most of the S7 Edge.

In the end I went with the Spigen SGP11480 wireless charger for my office, looks quite decent. Currently £18.59 on Amazon which appears to be a bit of a bargain (£40 on mobilefun, £24.99 on Spigen's own site). Also 2 amp input, hopefully not too much of a glaring power status LED. Doesn't look too bad from the stock photos.

This should do the trick until the 15W wireless chargers are cheaper and there are stand type options available. I really cannot see the appeal with placing your device flat instead of in a stand type cradle.

I have this charger works like a charm, no matter how you put the phone on it.

How much did you pay Macca? I think I could do with a set for working out

Pay a silly amount per month for the phone and these come with it. Had to wait for the cooling off period to end then claimed them through O2.

Used them tonight and yes they are very good. Don't come loose and the controls work really well. Nice touch the charging port is a standard USB as the phone

Speed is perceived. At the moment all you know is your note, which you perceive to be fast and will do until you perceive something else to be faster.

It is super quick compared to other "flagships" though really. The only other Android phones I have owned or used that are equally as smooth and quick have been Xperia devices.

It has the fastest loading camera app I have seen so far as well. The moment the app loads it can take shutter lag-free photos.

The speed of the S7 edge didn't wow me personally over my Nexus 6. Even a quick blast on the nexus 6p didn't feel massively quicker in general use.

The 6P is the fastest/smoothest phone I have used, things are just instant on that, even browsing is much better snappier than on my PC despite ads also loading :p

Saying that most phones from the last few years are all very quick and smooth though, newer phones just feel that bit more snappier generally which probably mostly comes from animation/transition tweaks.

Now the honeymoon phase is over, still gotta say this is a great phone. Can't find any faults with it really.

And now I'm not constantly on it, the battery is up there with my old Z2 now which was quite a beast.

Currently on 2 days 1 hour, with 3 and half hours screen time, and still have 32% battery left. Screen brightness is set to auto, and I've turned off always on as I'm pretty sure it kept disabling itself when I was in a VR world.

Kudos Samsung, Kudos.

(edit: add to that the speed at which it charges, much faster than the Z2, its like i'm never seeming to actually charge this thing. An hour and a half of charging every 2 and a half days. Or half an hour of charging gets me a full 24hrs of phone use)

Can't agree more about this phone. Think Samsung have hit the nail on the head with it, best phone I have ever owned and I have gone through all the top Android phones form the 6p to the Z5 premium.
