**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

I used to have the Note 2 and Note 3 in the past and loved those!

Even though the Note 5 not being sold in the UK was annoying, the specs didn’t tempt me at all since it has no card slot, no IPX rating and was 5.7”, having owned the Nexus 6P and finding it just a tad too big, I know I’d have not enjoyed it as much as I am the S7 Edge.

That’s my own personal usage though!

Its a fair bit smaller than the 6P. I found the Note 5 was nicer to hold than the smaller s6 edge.. mostly due to the curved back.

The best thing about the edge by far is the night clock. Something so simple but awesome.
Its a shame their aren't more edge exclusive features like this.

Yes I like that too. Was away at family over Easter and it was a great substitute for a travel clock/watch by my bed.

By the time you've got your phone lined up on a wireless charger so it works you could plug your phone in 20 times. Especially if it's in a case.

Gimmick.

It's not like that, my Nexus 5 would charge no matter where on the pad you put your phone, hopefully this will be the same.

For anyone still enjoying the Gear VR like I am, download 'Unpacked 360 View' where you're put into the arena where they unveiled the S7. You can watch the whole thing or highlights. In the menu, look right up to the top and click on 'Unveil moment'. It goes into the VR that the audience see with their headsets. You've never seen the S7 so big and float past you like some massive telephonic planet! :D

My brodit car mount is now fitted.

The actual male charging connection is very tight. Tried it on my note 4 mount and it's the same. It's as if they've changed the outer dimension of the female side.

No difference on a wired charger.

£50 for the wireless charger huh. Yeah I'll take 2 secs to plug in a cable thanks.
I also been looking at these cheaper stand up wireless chargers I link below...
(There not fast charge but they should be fine for over night charging)

I have both an S7E and a N6P and the size is the only thing that really bugs me about the N6P. It's a great phone otherwise. However, being obsessed with the shiny shiny I went ahead and bought an S7E.

I have to say that it's the most comfortable phone I've used. The size is perfect and the in-hand feel is like holding liquid glass. It sits nicely in my pocket instead of almost poking out like my 6P. So it's a decent improvement in terms of size.

The software isn't quite as streamlined as stock Android but there are some handy features in there and some improvements too. It's fast and there is little lag. With a Material theme it looks pretty good too. It's certainly not annoying to me, but YMMV.

The main thing that makes me question keeping this phone is the state of Android updates. I know that my 6P will get the N update within a couple of weeks of it launching. The S7E may not get it for 6 months if Samsung's track record is any indication. As a total Android nerdlinger, that really bugs me - but the S7E is just so nice that I don't really want to send it back either.

TL;DR - yes the S7E is better, but how much better it is depends on your love for stock Android and getting updates. And your bank balance. The N6P is probably better value overall. With the S7E you're paying a premium price, but you are getting a premium product.

I have similar thoughts, I think I will order the S7E and give it a fair try. Software updates and speakers are what the 6P has thats heads and shoulders above Samsung. Already running N on my Nexus 6p and its been more or less great outside off a few apps that don't work. Also honestly never cared about phone speakers till I got the 6P, there so loud, clear and the S7 speakers from what I've read are basically useless which would annoy me too. The Size and in hand feel off the S7E seems perfect though.
