Some quick Maths on the Edge. you'd pay £395 for the first 12 months and then upgrade to the S8 Edge next year. It starts a new 24 month agreement though and I assume they can up the price.

If you decide to ride it out, you would pay £726 for the S7 Edge by the end of the second year, which I guess over 24 months isn't crazy, but it certainly is far more than I've ever paid for a SIM free phone.

Trouble is it seems you have to send the S7 back to them if you upgrade to the S8 which means it is £395 + say a £15/month sim plan so £575 for the year, which seems like an awful lot to me !!

In contrast you'd probably drop about £200 - £250 by trading in an iPhone every year ( plus sim costs )
