**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

I am really umm'ing and ahh'ing over the S7 vs S7 Edge. For a 5.5" device it seems very compact, but then the design inevitably still makes it less pocketable and less able to add glass screen protectors.

Hmm...

Just pre-ordered a non-edge with free VR from Voda, first time I have been excited about a Samsung in a few generations, hoping for some good stuff :) Thank you for linking the cases. I might be being dense but which wireless charging standard does it use? Uses PMA and QI

EDIT: Thin fit case is £3 too: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Galaxy-Spigen®-Exact-Fit-Premium-Samsung/dp/B01A7ICRLO free pnp

Trouble is it seems you have to send the S7 back to them if you upgrade to the S8 which means it is £395 + say a £15/month sim plan so £575 for the year, which seems like an awful lot to me !!

In contrast you'd probably drop about £200 - £250 by trading in an iPhone every year ( plus sim costs )

Yeah, you could be right. Buy it outright for £639, probably sell it in a year for £350+ still? Only then costs you £289 for the year, £100+ or so less. (I wouldn't bother including a plan cost, just complicates things)

I do have to ask, how the £200 lost on an iPhone includes SIM costs? (I wouldn't know, never bought one)

Can someone just clarify for me, in simple bullet points, the REAL benefits of the edge?

Yes I know the screen is slightly larger (if that makes any real difference) and of course battery, anything else?

Try both in a store. For me it's not an improvement and i don't like the reflection but to others they love it.

I really like the look of the S6, and it was only the battery life that put me off buying one a few months ago when I could get one for peanuts. Now I'm sitting typing on an iPhone 6s+ that will go a genuine 8-9 hours screen on time, but I'm looking forward to an android phone that can match that. I hope the S7 lives up to the battery hype, though my upgrading is probably done for the time being. At least until the Note 6, if they bother to release it in the UK.

I asked CPW when I pre ordered mine and they said I would be getting the VR with my sim free phone!

i'd try and get that in writing if possible -

anyone spotted it cheaper than £570 at all?

Give it 2 or 3 months and the resellers will have it on 24 month contract for £25 a month with unlimited calls, texts, 1gb data and £100 up front. I suspect the upfront cost for the off contract phone itself won't change much over its lifetime though.

Hehe thanks ;)
Will do, assuming they have it in store! :)
Find an S6 edge, it's the same experience (just imagine the new layout from the S7).

Voda is deffo doing the VR and it comes with delivery if you pre-order. If you're considering Voda (I work for the international arm, this is not a recommendation blah blah) check if you're entitled to a discount through your work (eg a lot of gov places) and use quidco/tcb if applicable.
