**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

Got my Spigen Touch Armour case as recommended on here.

Its quite chunky, as expected, but I prefer the feel of the phone with it on and it definitely helps with accidental edge presses which was one of my main bugbears with the S7 Edge... and it definitely feels like it would survive some serious abuse. It looks good now but it'll be interesting to see how it looks in a few months.

Incidentally, my other half got the standard S7 yesterday and I have to admit I'd be much more tempted to go for that over the Edge if I were buying for myself now, as it feels much nicer in the hand and easier to handle, and the difference in screen size is not really worth worrying about IMO.

A lot of reviews said that, I'm somewhat kicking myself for not getting the edge as it looks so pretty. But the extra price + my stupidity makes the S7 a better choice.

Fast charging enabled..yay or nay?

Nay for me - I didn't like how hot my Note 4 used to get whilst fast charging, plus with this having a sealed case with no real scope to change the battery later, I figured keeping the heat down could only be a good thing for the battery.

I'll turn it on if I'm short on time and do need a fast charge, but for 99.5% of the time, plonking it on a slow wireless charger does the trick.

Not sure why you would not have it on if you have a fast charger, wired or wireless. The S7 does not get "hot" when fast charging. It actually gets warmer playing games or recording HD video.

I wouldn't be concerned about your choice in fairness. I do see where you're coming from though and if I had gone straight for the S7 instead and not tried the S7 Edge I would definitely have wondered "what if". Hindsight though is a wonderful thing, and I'd almost consider downgrading to the standard one if I could pocket some money in the process if it wasn't for that "better the devil you know" feeling and the fact I've bought a new case....

The Spigen Tough Armour case has really helped alleviate a pet hate with the phone, at the expense of making it somewhat bulky (but very well protected and still looking good) - and that is how it was so damn fiddly to use - even after several months edge presses were a huge issue for me - a problem non-existent in the S7.

Only reason I got the edge is screen size and bigger battery

Same, but I have to say, the battery life is good but its still not as good as my old Z3, and the battery of the standard S7 still seems more than acceptable.

The screen size, I hear ya, but in some ways the standard model is the more usable as to me the edges of the screen are just a bit of a waste really. You have to hand it to Samsung as it made them able to squeeze a large screen in a fairly small body but then the standard S7 sits nicely in size between the likes of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus but is just as easy to hold as the standard iPhone 7, a phone which is a bit of a benchmark for me in making an ergonomic device.

The S7 is the thinking mans choice I reckon.

Any "wining" from the fast charge at night...got the fast charger and love how neat it is, but it would be beside the bed.

Anyone used an unlock website to unlock a phone yet?

My S7 edge is on EE and I have not had it 6 months yet to be eligible to unlock.

I want to get a data sim for a US visit at Christmas.

Guess its that or root it but dont really want to.....

Have a look on eBay mate. Search s7 EE unlock code, sort by lowest price, check unlock time (can vary from 6 hours to 5 days)

Fair enough - but I don't need it to fast charge when 99% of the time, it's charging overnight while I'm fast asleep :)

My Note 4 got a fair amount hotter with fast charge enabled so I've just not bothered with it on the S7 at all.

I'll give it a try tonight and see if it got as hot as the Note 4 :)

Anyone else notice that the home button on their phone is clicking?

Let me explain. The other day, I noticed when I pressed the home button, it didn't "feel" quite right. It works but the action doesn't seem as crisp as it used to.

Now I've noticed, if I apply very light pressure to the right hand side of the home button, it makes a clicking sound; its almost as if the fingerprinter scanner is placed atop of the button, and its become ever so slightly loose, so if I press it very lightly on the right hand side with my finger nail I can hear / feel the slight click. Do it on the left its fine. Basically it makes the button feel like its not as pleasant to use as it was when I got it.
