**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

Some people like shiny new things. But I agree with what you're saying. The G5 is probably a more interesting phone.

Don't get me wrong, I love shiny new tech, but I do like to see some decent improvements for my hard earned cash. I need to be able to justify a purchase when you are talking over half a grand.

At the moment, changing your phone every year is a mugs game.

I doubt it, so Galaxy S7 users are stuck with 32GB for apps, or 26GB ish.

Using a 128GB Galaxy S6, not sure I could bare going back to a 32GB device

I'm now looking at Vodafone again and becoming sorely tempted to pull the trigger on an S7 and go back to Samsung again since as I've said previously it looks like they sorted any gripes you could have with the S6/Edge.

So I've now thought about this with my 20% discount...

S7 Black £99 up front
Ultd Txt/Min + 6GB Data £31.20p/m (discount applied) 24 months
£70 Cashback through Quidco
Free Samsung VR Headset (rrp £79).
Total over course of deal: £777.80

This appears to be pretty much the same value as the 12months one I looked as you get the VR headset which shows the difference in the cost and the opportunity to pay less per month.

I may give O2 a call today to see what they can do especially since I'm looking at that kind of offer from Vodafone. I suspect they won't be able to budge or offer anything close however.

Just got stung with a cashback offer through TopCashback for CPW.

Total tracked a lot lower than expected, scroll down topcashbacks page to see it excludes S7 pre orders.

The good thing is I accidentally ordered the regular S7 when I meant to order the Edge so i'll be cancelling anyway.

If i'm lucky i'll still get paid. TCB pays time and time again on cancelled orders, have had over £400 of cashback from them in 2 years on items either cancelled before despatch or returned shortly after receiving them.

Looks promising, not sure why they didn't use the new SD card APIs off Android M though but whatever. I would mostly use the SD card for media and that leaves you with 25GB for apps which is plenty for most.

Think I will wait for a few off you guys too get the device and see how you like it before I make a purchase. Also torn between the Edge or regular, I want the bigger display but it looks like it would be weird when your watching media.

Clearly. Though if I did want to I still have ample storage to do so. As the rest of my media will be on the sd card.

Ample? half the storage on my phone is taken by games/apps, almost 60GB. :D

The rest is mostly music, videos, images and roms which I don't really need with me, most of it's online.

I hope Samsung change their mind and add the feature, I don't want to go back to managing what I install again after only a few days, we shouldn't have this issue in 2016.

Tempted by the S7. What's the custom rom community like for the S6/Note4 etc? I haven't had a Samsung phone since the S3 and that was heavily moddable!

More like keeping the CEO's pocket filled.

It's the same story again and again, minimal feature upgrade.. I wish innovation would kick up a notch now.

Also, pretty annoying at samsung in general. Got an s5 and top of the range smart tv, for all it's wonderful connectivity ability and upgradability etc. I used to be able to stream my tv to my phone. Now it hardly connects and the smart view app is a skeleton of what it used to be.

Absolutely pathetic. And they are touting it all again with the s7 and the new uhd /whatever tv's. Give it 6-9 months and it will be mess. The next "notsobig" thing will be around and all support for the majority of features will get dropped or revoked.
