**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

Might get rid of my Nexus 6p and get this. Mostly love the 6p but the size is a bit much, the Edge is much smaller and should be a nice fit, and it has a huge as battery, awesome camera/display. Samsung software though and no USB Type-C, sorta want too leave micro usb behind.

Yeah make the shop staff - who have no sway whatsoever and are just there to sell things - take the abuse. That will surely send a message.

I'll not be abusing anyone sir, as you point out its nothing they had a hand in. I'd take it up with the branch manager and possibly persuade a few customers with a well timed comment or two to look elsewhere..... But I suspect they will delivery to everyone what they promise or I'm sure they would get slapped off some customers for false advertisement.

Isn't that what the Samsung Theme Engine is for? They have a Material theme which gets TW looking close enough to stock Android all over. install Nova Launcher and it's as good as stock. That's how I have the Xperia at the moment anyway and from what I've seen online, the Samsung theme engine is deeper than Sony's one and themes more stuff so better yet.

Hardware is on point though, outside of micro usb which I think is a good business choice for Samsung nothing I can really fault.

No doubting the hardware. Though the lack of stereo front speakers is disappointing. Not too fussed about type c right now.

Themes don't really come close to proper AOSP for me . Tried it on the S6 EDGE and it's better but not enough. Plus I hate the way Samsung has made all their labels text instead of icons. Dumbed it right down for the noobs. They messed with the recents cards too.

But meh, it is what it is.

so i ordered the s7 edge from samsung, as it comes with the Gear VR to play with :) , i currently have a S6 edge 64gb, i use Nova Launcher, as i found touchwizz lags abit, while Nova Launcher its super smooth not had any issues for a long time

im loving its 5.5 inch and still being very compact also they really added quite a big jump to the battery while still being slim which is quite amazing , here's hoping battery life will be great

The thing that puzzles me is that Sony don't use their own new sensor tech on their phones. The S7 uses the IMX260, the 6P uses another Sony sensor that only a drone cam uses... And the new Sony X series use in house sensors that aren't as good as these competitors using Sony sensors either.

Licensing sensors out is a strange business model.

6P speakers are excellent. best I have heard on a phone. The S7 speaker is said to be a new piece though with high definition. Will have to hear it in action for myself. I don't mind not having FF stereo speakers as long as the solo one has excellent clarity.

Vodafone ot budging for me :(

O2 are hilarious, no gear vr, and ridiculous pricing...

Will be getting this on Vodafone with 25gb Data, Unlimited minutes & texts, £29 up front and £44 a month.. Unless anyone has any better deals?

Other option is £56 for unlimited everything on three, thoughts?

Funny how in that live stream the President of Samsung Mobile Division couldn't pronounce his own product, "The Samsung Galax" :D

Lowlight comparison

That's ridonculously amazing. That alone is almost worth the price of the S7.
I won't be upgrading though as I only got my S6 last June on a two year contract so it'll be S8 for me next year. Actually, I only seem to have even numbered Galaxy S's.

I wonder how many people will be texting underwater at their swimming pool with this new beast. :p
