**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

Why did you leave the beta when the beta automatically rolled over to the official OTA?!

I reckon that's why it's not showing the update on your handset.

You could Odin flash the official release I suppose, this would likely mean you need to wipe the device during the process of course.

I "Odined" the stock UK Nougat straight on top of my XEU marshmallow, still got all data & no bugs (yet)

:)

A mate on Vodafone has apparently lost his WiFi calling ability since upgrading. Not sure if he's doing something wrong or if that's an issue though.

Got mine working thanks to XDA

I managed to get WiFi calling with Nougat BTU on Vodafone.

I went into my Vodafone account online and disabled WiFi Calling (previously enabled but not working), waited 15 minutes then sent the text to enable it again. Got the confirmation about 18 hours later then restarted the phone and the toggle appeared. Tested and I can receive calls with WiFi enabled in Airplane mode so it does actually work, for now.

I followed those instructions .. then text CALLING to 97888 you gat a reply saying be within 24hrs ... wait for next next text saying enabled(took 40mins) and it works (may need to reboot)

Cheers for that - I'll get him to give that a try. I know he relies on the WiFi calling at home so it should keep him happy :)

I don't know. I've had a lot on recently and didn't give it much thought.... :o

I'm not too fussed if I need to wipe, its a bit of an inconvenience but not much more.

I'll look at flashing it manually, do you need ADB installed to use Odin?

Where is wifi calling in Vodafone account? I can't find it?

In the app, press the 3 bars menu icon in the top right, then go to 'My Offers and Extras', in the drop down select 'Buy Extras' - you'll need to pop your pin in at this point, but once in, go to Manage Minutes and it'll be under there as a toggle.

HTH

Just checked on manual update on mine and Nougat is sat waiting ready for me to download and install later on today when I get home. Download size 1.12 gig...or there abouts

Handset is my 3rd S7E...dropped 1st...insurance replacement would conitunally crash when doing anything so was replaced.....3rd is a charm.

I did flash the official BTU on it the moment I got it too

Hmmm, having a look it seems those with BTU are getting Nougat fine but no-one thus far seems to have got it with XEU firmware.

Is there a step by step guide to flash mine to BTU? I will do a backup but is there a risk of losing anything or it causing issues?

Yeah I'm on G935FXXU1ZPLN too. Mine came from the MM so it must have been originally from CPW.

Just found this on XDA:
I think i worked out the difference between BTU and XEU.

BTU firmware are on phones that come directly from Samsung (unbranded)
XEU firmware are on Sim Free handsets that are generic (unbranded) but not from Samsung

S6 Edge uses both of the above which I have seen.

Are we to assume its the same for the S7/Edge?

There are plenty of guides available. One of which is in the link below.

http://attractivereview.com/2017/01...-edge-official-android-7-0-nougat-ota-update/

You can now flash Nougat BTU via odin rather than flashing MM BTU, then getting the ota update. You will also need samsung usb drivers or samsung smart switch (I think) installed on your pc.

And yes there are risks though probably not that great ...... says he who's not flashed it yet :D Usual warnings apply, backup your data!

I just flashed the UK BTU Nougat on my XEU marshmallow using Odin with no problems ( it's still XEU )

*****You must use the latest Odin or you're in a world of pain*******

Did you flash CSC or CSC_HOME out of interest? I can't remember which one off top of my head, but one resets the phone and the other doesn't. I *think* to change to BTU you need to flash the one that resets the OS. I'm sure more knowledgeable peeps will correct me if I'm wrong .. which is very probable :D

Plenty seem to be flashing Nougat via latest version of Odin without issue. I'm getting bored of waiting (on XEU S7 from carphone) and given a moment will flash it myself. I plan to reset my S7, rightly or wrongly. Some say it can avoid conflicts with the new OS.

Can anyone recommend a screen protector please.

I've tried a couple of glass ones on S7 (none edge) and they were hopeless. Both didn't go to the glass edge (because it's curved) which I knew when buying them. Even then neither stuck down on right edge for some reason and the edges were incredibly annoying being 2mm or so from the edge. Thought I could live with it but was wrong. Both discarded into the bin. Screen is naked and doesn't seem to be getting those micro scratches you can see when display is off and angled to the light. Lives in my pocket on it's own. I don't want to spoil such a good display with a piece of plastic glued over it
